Calling all sleuths - a murder needs solving

Recently, one chilling night, 13 people gathered for a meeting of unknown details. They all were connected through our victim, the late Mr. Body. He was into espionage, money laundering, loan sharking, blackmail, and many other nefarious acts and we are certain the other 12 guests all had motives. After a heated discussion the party learned of a critical folder of evidence blackmailing them all and that it was hidden somewhere in the building. The party dispersed to find it while the battered Mr. Body ran to hide and possibly to retrieve the folder and flee. After 10 minutes searching, at 8:10pm his begrudging on-call medic, Dr. Black received the notification from his wireless biometrics that he had died. She ran to the lower lobby and pulled the fire alarm. That much is certain.

The ensuing questioning detailed where everyone was at the time of the fire alarm, who and what they could see, and our sketch artist has recreated the 12 scenes described. The building was empty except for the 13 of them and thanks to wealthy lawyers we can do no further questioning. We need your help to find where Mr. Body was killed, by whom, and with what.

Where

Our detectives figured that the murderer would have just left the scene of the crime, so it'll be a room only they can see. Perhaps it was Dr. Black in the kitchen - nobody else could see that room. But there are so many other places. There is a floor-plan included in this briefing.

Whom

The interrogations seem to give us no leads. However, we are convinced the murderer is lying about where they are to disguise where the murder was. Everyone was in line of sight with two or more other suspects so we just need to figure who is stood somewhere slightly different from where everyone else claims they were. This is a high profile case so we can offer you only last names.

Weapon

Combining the police report of an initial sweep of the building and the building manager's itinerary, we have narrowed the list of potential murder weapons down to 12. The suspects were searched and none of them carried it out. Until we find Mr. Body it is hard to say which one was used but the murder weapon is still inside that building and we're guessing it is stashed somewhere inside to hide evidence. Maybe you could see what weapons the suspects could see and narrow it down. Here is the list:

Here are the 12 artist sketches of what each suspect described:

Col. Mustard

Col. Mustard is stood in the 3rd floor corridor on the left side. Peering through to the grand Jensen hall, he can see Prof. Plum sat in the upper balcony across the way. A broken bottle caught his eye in the corridor but he didn't get a good look at it. At the time the alarm sounded he was heading to leave by the upper entrance where Mrs Peacock was perched.

Dr. Black

Having pulled the alarm, Dr. Black was stood in the center of the lobby when it blasted its rude sound. Looking around, she could see Miss Scarlet and Srg. Saffron in the lower lobby with her; the Sergeant was stood under the stairs next to the gentlemen's room and Miss Scarlet was closer to the entryway leading to the Jensen hall seating. Looking up to the mezzanine, Mr. Emerald is stood by the edge, looking out over the lobby. Almost beneath Mr. Emerald is the kitchen and Dr. Black could see a large knife abandoned on the countertop.

Lady Rose

Lady Rose was dawdling in the terrace when the alarm sounded. Behind her was Rev. Green, walking in from the promenade. Between them on the floor was a stray wrench likely wedged in place to hold a door open. Ahead of Lady Rose stood Jensen Hall in all its grandeur. Mrs White is walking through an aisle of the seating on the left and Mr. Brown is stood on the audience right side of the stage. Up above and to the right, Prof. Plum is calmly overlooking the scene from the lofty balcony. Lady Rose is the only one that can see behind the control panel, but it appears empty.

Miss Scarlet

Miss Scarlet cast her eyes round about from the lower lobby and could just make out Mrs White through the doors in the seating area. Under the stairs, Srg. Saffron is loitering around the Men's restroom and between them was a candlestick by a pillar, seeming rather out of place. Looking far across the lower lobby, Dr Black is in the middle of the lobby's main circular meeting area and Mr Emerald is overlooking from up on the mezzanine.

Mr Brown

Mr Brown gazes out from the stage and can just about make out some others in the audience. On the same side of the room is Lady Rose and Mrs White. The latter in the seating area, stood near some sort of wire hanging over a banister. Lady Rose is one level up on the terrace. On the other side, up at the top in the balcony is prof. Plum. Mr Brown observed some rat poison stood atop of one of the cupboards backstage. How could a place so pristine have a rat problem?

Mr. Emerald

While Perusing the mezzanine, Mr. Emerald was just passing the fire extinguishing when the alarm went off. He turned to look across the lower lobby and saw Dr. Black in the center, Srg. Saffron by the men's room, and Miss Scarlet at the far end of the lower lobby heading toward the Jensen Hall. Across the way, beyond the far side of the mezzanine, Rev. Green is walking on the Promenade by the elevator. Above him on the upper entrance is Mrs. Peacock. Thanks to the barrier and banister, there are parts of the mezzanine nobody can see except Mr. Emerald.

Mrs Peacock

Mrs Peacock is stood in the upper entrance by a music stand when she was startled to see Col. Mustard coming off the balcony and through the corridor toward her. Near his feet, she spotted a broken bottle, which is quite out of place in such a well manicured venue. Looking past the elevator, down on the promenade at the far end she could just about make out Ms Gray by one of the couches. Turning the other way, Mr Emerald could be seen standing on the far side of the mezzanine.

Mrs White

Mrs White was pacing the aisles of the ground floor seating area when the alarm disturbed her composure. She had noticed a wire with two handles draped over a balcony moments earlier. It looks to be a garotte. How she knows about this outlandish item remains to be seen. Ahead of her, looking up one floor was Lady Rose on the Terrace and further up on the balcony was Prof. Plum. Behind her was Mr. Brown up on the stage, audience right side, and through the doors to the lower lobby she could see Miss Scarlet.

Ms Gray

Ms Gray, tired of the tumult, was searching at the far end of the promenade. Like the rest she had found no incriminating folder of documents, but had eyed the fireman's axe hung by the emergency exit. Back toward the commotion was Rev. Green by the elevator and above him on the upper entrance was Mrs Peacock.

Prof. Plum

Prof. Plum was people watching high in the balcony on the right side with a well protected, direct view of almost the entire Jensen hall. Across on the other side and through the doorway was Col. Mustard. Below the Colonel was Lady Rose on the Terrace. Out in the main seating area was Mrs White, pacing the aisles. Near her was some out of place wire draped over a handrail. Up on the stage, to audience right, Mr Brown stood staring back at the Professor. Hesitantly Prof. Plum conceded that he noticed a gun in that balcony booth but insisted it was not his nor had he fired it. Idaho is an open carry state so a patron could feasibly have dropped it from their holster when leaving a show.

Rev. Green

Conveniently next to the open elevator, Rev. Green was waiting on the Promenade by an entrance to the terrace. Ahead of him he saw Lady Rose thanks to a wrench that looked to be propping a broken door open. Down the length of the promenade he recognized Ms Gray. The opposite direction revealed Mr Emerald across the mezzanine almost too far away to make out.

Srg. Saffron

Srg. Saffron, notorious for his supreme hydrated status and often heading too or from the restroom was keeping up appearances being beside the men's bathroom. Though he was under a set of stairs, he could see a remarkable number of people. Down in the lower lobby with him was Dr. Black whom had just pulled the alarm, and Miss Scarlet. Between Scarlet and himself stood a forgotten candlestick. Looking above Dr. Black was Mr. Emerald on the mezzanine. Despite the restroom operating just as expected, a lead pipe was sat on the floor.

To get to the bottom of this case you need to deduce the location, the murderer, and the weapon. With that information combined it might just lead somewhere. The pictures are the quickest way to the solution.

The solution

Once you think you have figured the suspect, weapon, and room, visit the checker link below.

Make sure to have no spaces or punctuation, with only the suspect's last name (no title). For example you might think it was Col. Mustard with the music stand in the corridor - you would type in "mustardmusicstandcorridor". The order is also important - suspect, weapon, then room.

Suspect Weapon Room
Col. Mustard Lead pipe Balcony
Dr. Black Wrench Corridor
Lady Rose Music stand Elevator
Miss Scarlet Candlestick Upper entrance
Mr Brown Fire extinguisher Mezzanine
Mr Emerald Garrote Promenade
Mrs Peacock Rope Control panel
Mrs White Axe Terrace
Ms. Gray Knife Restroom
Prof. Plum Broken bottle Backstage
Rev. Green Gun Kitchen
Srg. Saffron Poison Seating

The checker will tell you where to find the final and the elusive folder of evidence.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

Housekeeping

Where this is a letterbox style geocache you are still welcome to sign and date the log like normal but try to remember your stamp. My wife and I have made stamps from clay, from rubber, and a criket, but some people just use their fingerprint. Whatever you use, make sure to also sign and date next to your custom inking. There will be a stamp and ink pad in the container. That is for you to stamp your own letterboxing book, but make sure to put them back as you found them.

This geocache is placed with permission. You don't need to walk around the building to solve this puzzle, but if it is unlocked and any performances or events are not disturbed, public essentially have some limited access to the building. Please be respectful to the venue and the building maintenance manager - he was my judo instructor. Don't tempt him to practice his Tai Otoshi form (kidding).
