With a fall height of 12 meters and a length of approx. 200 meters, the Traunfall is extraordinary. Due to the gradient, it has long been an obstacle to shipping traffic. It was made navigable for the first time in 1311, but what it looked like back then is not known. It was not until the 16th century that the “mobile CASE” was finally expanded. At the turn of the century (1901), what was initially the most important power plant in the Traun was built at Traunfall, built by the Stern und Haferl company. ENERGIE AG Oberösterreich will begin construction of the Traunfall power plant in the summer of 2025, and the new power plant should go into operation in 2028. The authorities have approved this construction under strict conditions, and the Traunfall itself should not change.

Do not climb down into the river-bed (according to the warning signs there may be floods), the Cache is NOT placed down there.
Basically the waterfall can be visited any time of year, but there is no "winterservice". So be aware of the fact that it might be slippery and icy.

Mit einer Fallhöhe von 12 Metern und einer Länge von ca. 200 Metern ist der Traunfall schon außergewöhnlich. Auf Grund des Gefälles war er lange ein Hindernis für den Schiffverkehr. 1311 wurde er das erste mal schiffbar gemacht, wie das damals aber aussah ist nicht bekannt. Erst im 16. Jahrhundert kam es zum endgültigen Ausbau zum "fahrbaren FALL". Um die Jahrhundertwende (1901) entstand das vorerst bedeutendste Kraftwerk der Traun am Traunfall, errichtet von der Firma Stern und Haferl. Die ENERGIE AG Oberösterreich wird im Sommer 2025 den Neubau des Kraftwerkes Traunfall beginnen, und 2028 sollte das neue Kraftwerk in Betrieb gehen. Die Behörden haben diesen Bau unter strengen Auflagen bewilligt, und der Traunfall an sich sollte sich dadurch nicht verändern.
Sicherheits-Hinweise:
Nicht ins Flußbett absteigen, der Warntafel zufolge könnte es "Wasserschwälle" geben.
Es gibt keinen "Winterdienst" dort, im Winter ist daher mit Eisglätte zu rechnen. Beim Runtergehen ist dann Vorsicht geboten.
