Castle Spangstein was build in the 13th century.
If you see what is left now you can hardly imagine that around
1920 there was still quite some part of the Castle left.
Now there is only some part of a tower left.
As you can read on the picture some early cache hunter
destroyed parts of the castle.
To avoid further destruction by cache hunters the cache is not
hidden in the walls of the ruin!
We suggest to park your vehicle at:
N 46° 47.567
E 15° 10.271
Follow the marked path number 24 leading uphill beside
a nice little gorge.
After about 10 minutes a narrow path is leading you close to
the Ruins.
Follow this path until you see a game feeding place on your right
side. Now follow your GPS to the ruin.
The cache is hidden at the highest point of the former
castle.
Unfortunately from this part of the castle there aren't any walls
left.
All in all you should not need more than 45 minutes for this
cache.
The cache is a plastic box approximately 16 cm x 10 cm x 7
cm in size.
Die Burg Spangstein wurde im 13. Jahrhundert
gebaut.
Wenn man sieht wie wenig heute noch von
dieser Ruine steht kann man sich nur schwer vorstellen das um 1920
noch Teile der Anlage erhalten waren. Jetzt findet man nur mehr
einen Turm.
Wie man am Photo sieht wurde die Burg von
frühen Schatzsuchern stark beschädigt.
Um weitere Beschädigungen zu verhindern habe ich den Cache NICHT in
den Mauerresten versteckt.
Ein guter Platz um sein Fahrzeug abzustellen
ist hier:

Von dort folgt man den Wanderweg Nr. 24 der
bergauf entlang einer kleinen Klamm führt.
Nach ca. 10 Minuten zweigt rechts ein Hohlweg
ab der in die Nähe der Ruine führt.
Folge diesen Weg bis rechts eine Wildfutterstelle auftaucht. Von
hier dem GPS zum Cache folgen.
Der Cache ist am höchsten Punkt der ehemaligen Burg
versteckt.
Mauern findet man dort aber leider keine mehr.
Für den ganzen Cache sollte man nicht viel
länger als 45 Minuten benötigen.
