bjmccacher – Geocacher of the Month

One comment reads, “Bjmccacher has been a great geocaching collaborator and really helped raise the bar for geocaching in Lincoln, NE (and in the central US)!  He is also incredibly inventive and is always coming up with new and interesting ways to geocache… He goes the extra mile in every possible way! ”

Each of the nominees below is an essential part of the global geocaching community. Each will receive a prize package from Geocaching HQ in Seattle, but only one will be the next Geocacher of the Month. Edgar44 - Nominee for Geocacher of the Month

Edgar44 – Nominee for Geocacher of the Month

Nominated by vehan, who says, “If you’ve discovered a geocache in Italy, the name Edgar44, is no stranger to you. A geocacher since 2010, Edgar44, has helped lead the geocaching adventure in Southern Europe, including connecting with the local and international community, fostering a love of nature by creating geocaches which showcase hikes, and hiding and maintaining much loved caches.”

But there’s one geocache size he avoids. Vehan writes,”with 500 hidden caches, not a micro but only small, regular and giant caches! Our best in Italy :)”

Edgar44 is also part of the growing Ladina Geocaching Team.

iPajero - Nominee for Geocacher of the Month

iPajero – Nominee for Geocacher of the Month

Nominated by:  Henzz and Louwtjie&Vroutjie:  “We recently celebrated team iPajero’s 10000th find in Cape Town. An amazing achievement if one considers that there are only 10629 caches currently in Southern Africa (which includes our neighbouring countries). That is more than twice as many caches found in Southern Africa than any other Geocacher.

On their travels around our beautiful country, they would not only seek out caches, but also make an effort to meet with geocachers where ever they go. They have such wonderful personalities that one instantly finds oneself enjoying their company.

And in between all of this they still find time to hide and maintain quality caches as well. Every single one of the 163 caches they have placed is still active. iPajero also owns 36 Earthcaches and ranks amongst one of the top Earthcache placers worldwide. They are always willing to lend a helping hand, give advice, or to walk alongside you. No path too steep, no valley too deep, they are always there, shining like a lighthouse beacon, so that we can find our way.”

barondriver - nominee for Geocacher of the Month

barondriver – nominee for Geocacher of the Month

Nominated by abesimpson: “In Kansas, you just can’t go very far without finding a barondriver cache. While that could mean someone just puts out a bunch of caches, anyone who knows a barondriver cache knows they are in for something a little more than just a smiley.

He started in 2001, and at that time helped to promote the activity state wide by placing caches in interesting places or near interesting pieces of history. He maintained those well and brought good consistency throughout the region. An avid garage sale visitor, he seemed to be always coming across something new and interesting to turn into a cache.

What is truly inspiring about barondriver was his interest in expanding the activity to others. He was always quick to be the friendly face to muggles to explain what we are doing. He encouraged new cachers and worked with them on finds. He is always good for a story about this hide or that hide that would just get you excited enough to go after it.  When it comes down to it, what makes barondriver stand out is that he always appeared to be the guy who just loved this little hobby in a way that made the rest of us want to love it in the same way.”

  • Puzzled Penguins

iPajero gets our vote. They have been a huge encouragement to us and have added to our caching experience by posting many challenging caches in our home-town. We’d sum them up as a mix of irrepressible energy, indefatigable commitment to finding caches and a clever impish sense of humour when creating their own caches. We once posted a new cache with the wrong co-ords which took folk about 500m from the cache position. Nonetheless they claimed a FTF by using a canny geocaching sense and pointed out to us our mistake. Now it takes a special geocacher to do that!

  • Rico

    Edgar44… the one and only…

  • bebilix

We vote for Edgar44, because he shows us a lot of interesting places in our holidays and all his Listings are in three languages, so also tourists can understand it. And, very important, he explains in the Listings a lot of the landscape, the place, hiking tours, and many other things.

  • jockl90

For me, Edgar 44 of the best geochacher of the month, because he already has 2000 cahes found and hid over 500 original and very crative chaches. In the marvel beautiful Dolomites

  • blue_dun

My vote is for Edgar44. He varieds our hiking in South Tyrol.

  • M@rion97

edgar44 should be nominate as the next geocacher of the month, bacause he has hidden many caches. He also takes care of all the caches and here everything is always in order. If you don’t find a cache, you only have to phone Edgar and he will always help you.

  • Gerhard Lemmer

    iPajero for sure.

  • Egon Sora

    Edgar44 for me

  • Sonsoekster

Definitely iPajero. I agree with all the other comments. They play a great geocaching game without a lot of whoo-hah, they just quietly set a great example. They have caches in some of the most interesting and scenic places in SA. And yet they also take the trouble to plan caching trips to find caches in all the corners of SA.

  • Andi

I always wonder how it is even possible to use so much time just for hiding caches – where does Edgar44 get the time from to find some other caches? My vote is definitely for him

  • Eva & Dominik

  • SpanaTeam

Edgar44, all cache he hidden is a garantee of quality, in the nature or in the village but always in the best mountain in the world. Thanks!!!!!

    Land Rover Team

  • Paddawan

I am sure everyone nominated is worthy of this title but defnitely voting for: iPajero

    iPajero gets my vote.

  • miking

When caching in SA we no longer ask if iPajero has found a cache, we ask when they found it. Their logs are always well-considered, to the point, and unique to the cache in question. Humble in person, but awesome in caching prowess. An example and an inspiration to the rest of us. iPajero gets our vote!

  • Tim Larkman

IPajero gets my vote. After having done many of their geocaches which are alays well maintained and the fact that they make it their life goal to travel the country to do the geocaches placed by everyone in RSA i think they are most deserved for the award.

  • jakl-B-hide

iPajero gets our vote for being model geocachers. Wonderful people and truly dedicated to geocaching. We have enjoyed a number of their earthcaches and they are an inspiration.

  • willemswanepoel

iPajero for sure. Would still like to know how you ever get to 10000!!

  • leebez77

  • Don Jolley

+1 for iPajero. What fantastic achevments and all the work you have put into the SA caching community

  • Michael Cowling

IPajero for sure. A legend of a team.

  • Juan Brunette

Ipajero is the team that must win. They are doing so much for Geocaching in SA and are are well known faces.

  • cincol

    My vote is for iPajero.

  • kingrobert

iPajero has my vote . 10K finds are amazing!

  • Fier

iPajero is known nation-wide all ways giving positive input into discussions. Seeing as I live 1500km away yet their presence is felt in my neighbourhood is an indication of their national contribution.

  • Team Schutte

iPajero gets my vote. The cache series I’ve done with them inspired me to do the same. They are a inspiration!

  • GarethC

    definitely vote for iPajero

  • giorgio2360

in bocca al lupo per la nomination…..

  • ipodmusicman

iPajero has to be Geocacher of the month!!!!

  • louwtjie&vroutjie

    Many micros!!

  • varkieliefe

I simply loved this post. “we ask when they found it” :-D

  • BigG114

iPajero, they are a machine! They appear at events hundred’s of KM away from their home in the morning and cache all the way back on a regular basis. They have also placed one of the most difficult challenge caches in South Africa (GC4XAV4) and have found 10 000+ only in Southern Africa. Really great team that deserves the award. :)

  • DeusJuvat

iPajero – THE Geocacher example from South Africa!

  • Hein Geldenhuys

iPajero gets my vote!!! Finding more than 10000 caches is a major acheivement especially in this part of the world!!!

  • Bert

iPajero, for their huge contribution to Geocaching in South Africa.

  • Delbadore

My vote definitely goes to iPajero! To find over 10 000 caches in a region with just over 10 000 caches is an amazing feat! I was very fortunate to meet them at the very first event I attended and have also visited East London where they stay and found many of the caches they have placed there. Their caches are fantastic (especially those in the Umtiza Nature Reserve) and well maintained. I truly believe they embody the spirit of geocaching as they have explored the whole of Southern Africa, write fantastic logs and are even willing to travel to another city to participate in a CITO event during the International CITO weekend!!

  • tigu717

Thank you for your vote much appreciated.

  • Tam

IPajero – amazing total when there are so few to do in Southern Africa. Looking forward to seeing you successfully finding all! Congratulations!
