The Fairbanks caching community is active and growing rapidly with more than 100 caches (up from less than 30 in 2004) within a 30 mile radius. This is a list of caches in the immediate Fairbanks area that we classify as "drive-up" caches. Our definition of "drive-up" is that a cacher can park within 1/2 mile of the cache and walk to it without getting muddy. We built separate lists for North Pole and roads leading out of Fairbanks.

  A pleasant walk along some of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Nordic ski trails.

  A walk up a Salcha Nordic ski trail and then cross country from there.  

GCM9X1 Traditional CacheArboreal Off the Bike Path
  #3 of the nearly finished Ladybug Kids' bike path series. Park for Wood River Butte Cache and take a walk in the forest on ski trails to find this and Troop 78's Cache. Alternative parking is located at Ballaine Lake off University Avenue.

  Great location with a neat Alaska Aviation Museum and a fun family Alaska theme park.

  Nice walk along the Chena River.  

GCKK54 Webcam CacheBlack & White & Red All Over
  Downtown WebCam cache which will require you to phone a friend. Don't forget to e-mail the answer to the riddle!  

GCJZAF Traditional CacheChena Marina RV Park
  Very nice RV park setting on a lake. The owners are cacher friendly and will be glad to meet you even if you don't spend the night.

  Nice walk or bike ride along the Chena River from downtown or Pioneer Park. Alternatively, you can park in the Fairbanks Drama Association's parking lot.

  Easy access off Ester Dome Road.  

GCHPMV Traditional CacheFairbanks Travel Bug Drop Box
  Easy find and nice walk past duck ponds if you have half an hour to spare after checking in for your flight.  

GCTN3J Traditional CacheFamily Affair
  Easiest cache to access off Chena Hot Springs Road.  

GCMC82 Traditional CacheFlat Along the Bike Path
  #4 of the nearly finished Ladybug Kids' bike path series. Easily accessible via bicycle or a short walk from parking.  

GCQANY Traditional CacheGolden Bike Path
  Probably accessible only 9-10 months out of the year (May-February) due to Goldstream Creek overflow, but in a scenic location in Goldstream Valley.  

GCVKDM Traditional CacheGuarded Bike Path
  Located at one of the best drive-up scenic viewpoints in Fairbanks.  

GCPTYF Multi-cacheIlluminated Along the Bike Path
  This cache tests your powers of observation at the Creamer's Field Migratory Bird Refuge as you gather the information required for the final stage.  

GCQ205 Traditional CacheLadybug Kids' Kid Cache
  This cache could have gone on this or our "Scamble" list, depending on the time of year, but we put it here because the Bird Observatory is a neat place to visit whatever the weather.  

GCW0JZ Traditional CacheMidnight Sun Field of Dreams
  Ammo can in the heart of Fairbanks about 1.5 miles from downtown hotels and less than 0.5 mile from Pioneer Park/Alaskaland, so it can serve as an alternative to the Fairbanks Travel Bug Drop box which is near the airport.  

GCW4YT Unknown CacheNot Hidden Along the Bike Path
  Be sure to work the jigsaw puzzle before you leave home. You can park within ten yards or so of this cache.  

GCPRX9 Traditional CachePedro's Discovery
  Do this cache and "Pedro's Elephants Ear" and visit the location of the first significant gold strike in the Fairbanks area.  

GCM68Z Unknown CachePlugged Near the Bike Path
  #2 of the Ladybug Kids' nearly finished Bike Path series of caches. The challenging part about this cache is the puzzle which can be worked anywhere before coming to Fairbanks.
