Balloon Fiesta

This is on the list because of the love/hate relationship that Albuquerque has with the sculpture, AKA "Chevy on a Stick". Have a laugh and enjoy this one.

a few hundred feet east,is a sculpture park. OK Harris was a local artist known for whimsical sculpture. After you see the gaggle of sclptures, there's more towards his studio in the building behind you.

Home Sweet Home!

Home Sweet Home! (ABQ PA: Migrating Home)

If you're thorough in your sightseeing, you'll visit the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. This cache is very close by and is interesting on its own. If it doesn't give you the correct time, enjoy it as art.

It's OK by me

One of many in this area that were constructed as WPA projects. Allow some time for some rewarding finds and some scenic views.

Ladies Only

One of many good ones in the Elena Gallegos area. Some great views will reward a bit of a hike here and at others in the park.

Mountain Man

This is one of our best to combine history with caching. Go early in the day if it's hot. I think this is the one that's on everyone's best caches list.

Old Town Ghost Tour

This is on Kirtland AFB so you need to be military or a guest of someone who is to be able to get this one. If you qualify, it's worth the effort.

Phantom Cache

Ernie Pyle had strong Albuquerque roots and his memorabilia is worth seeing. For the second stage, use the parking structure at the SE corner of 5th and Copper and the library staff will validate your parking ticket.

There's a visitor center and a demonstration garden inside the gated area. It's also an entrance to the bosque. They do have 8-5 hours unless there's a moonlight walk or other event.

Set In Stone

This is the center cache ( and parking spot) for about 20 caches that can be done quickly and fairly easily. They are all different and easy terrain, a tenth of a mile in this area yields some surprising variety.

Shining River

If you've got some time or you're checking out campuses, this is a good tour. Some of the art is, well, unique. There are also some other campus caches while you are here.

UNM Gadabout

Wine in New Mexico? You bet and Gruet has more more than just a local following. Tasting Room hours are Mon-Fri 10-5, Sat 12-5 if you're so inclined.

Wine a Little

A centrally located easy cache between the Botanic Garden/Aquarium complex and Tingley Beach. Warning; Tingley Beach is not a real beach, just some pretty fishing ponds.

Zoo Train

This is a list in progress. These are caches in spots you would likely visit during your stay; not necessarily the most creative. Particularly good if you are traveling with non-cachers who resent looking for "just one more". Most of them are easy in difficulty and terrain. If you know of a cache that is representative of Albuquerque that should be added, let me know.
