Unknown Cachep. 0 South Dakota DeLorme Challenge
!!! Qualified for completion as of 17 August 2007 !!!

Traditional Cachep. 12 Picnic Springs Cache
---(2007-07-16, 16: 2: 2)--- We came by here after the Deer and Cave Hills caches and thoroughly enjoyed this region of SD. The scenic wonders are amazing and easily worth the drive into this remote place. We walked up and found this one without much ado after we got on the correct side of the monument. Took a picture on the cache camera. PI is guarding the cache. T: green finger-mounted flashlight; L: band aid kit. Wonderful Hide! TFTC. SL.

Traditional Cachep. 13 Deer Cache
---(2007-07-16, 12: 5: 2)--- We came by here with a threatening sky looking like rain, which put a skip in our step as we didn't want to be out on this Forrest road in a T-storm. We made a full circle on this one, going up south then east for a more leisurely grade, then back to the geo-mobile northward down the steeper slope. We recommend this route to all those fellow senior citizens. We were surprised by the container, but later see in the logs that it was changed after our database went final for the trip. Great views and hike in and through the forest. PI in the cache area, so tread with caution. T: collectible replica of Coleman lantern; L: compass keychain. Great Hide! TFTC. SL.

Traditional Cachep. 14 Antique Threshing Bee
---(2007-07-16, 9:32:25)--- We came by here on a day trip out of our Mobridge campsite; and a beautiful day for geocaching it was. We enjoyed this cute wayside attraction, and the hunt for this well-hidden cache. We had some muggles come by and stop for a look at the nearby Historic Marker, so we mocked up being threshing bee experts interested in this antiquated design. T: arrowhead replica; L: light-up astro ball. Nice Hide! TFTC. SL.

Traditional Cachep. 15 Sound 20 &Fence
---(2007-07-16, 9: 3: 4)--- We came by here on a day trip out of our campsite in Mobridge. Great morning for geocaching! Clever placement of the cache here. Lots of farm equipment on the road, very few cars. Cache is neatly hidden and in great shape. T: SD copper keychain and Lemmon, SD hat pin; L: pink flashlight on lanyard. Nice Hide! TFTC. SL.

Multi-cachep. 16 Coal Hard Cache
---(2007-07-15, 16:10:52)--- We enjoyed the Historic Marker and the area; unbeknownst to us SD had a thriving coal business, and since WY is doing well in that area today, we wondered what happened? The coords for the final stage were quickly determined, and we headed off on our adventure on the prairie. We enjoyed the hike across the native grass and the artifact as we approached; we were sure we heard the rumbling feet of hundreds of tatonka on the wind. The artifact guarding the cache was quite interesting and we enjoyed poking around; excepting for the fact that the metal was just a bit too hot for waffles. Naturally, we followed our preconceived notions of where the cache is at, so it took a bit to find it right where the GPSrs said it was. T: tiny coin purse; L: swag. Great Hide! TFTC. SL.

Traditional Cachep. 17 Pirate Hide-Away
---(2007-07-15, 13:40:47)--- Wow, such views of the old pumping station, Lake Oahe and bridges telling the silent tale of previous high-water marks! Delightful hike out to the cache down to and along and near the waters of Lake Oahe. The river is up from plentiful spring rains and so we got some close ups of the river. Interesting ruins that had previously been under water for some years. The name of theis cache is very appropriate as it does give the sense of a Caribbean pirate's den. T: red corvette; L: bracelet bead and hemp kit in orange colored zipper pouch. Great Hide! TFTC! SL.

Wonderful cache and most suitable as our milestone 1300th.

Traditional Cachep. 18 Nena's Hide-a-Way
---(2007-07-14, 16:43:48)--- We came by here with camper in tow on our way to Mobridge. Cache in great shape and right where the coords say it is. We were glad we had our good and safe shoes on walking among the artifacts near the cache. We crossed the tracks for a good place to turn around, then got stopped by a train; delighted the train tooted at us a few times and the exchange of waves. TNLN. TFTC! SL.

Traditional Cachep. 19 Retired Science Teacher's Diversion
---(2006-12-11, 12:16:13)--- We drove over to this as part of our SD DeLorme Challenge, and were sure wishing there was another cache on this page, but thankful for this one. Roscoe is a cute little town, and the highway runs through it in the old-fashioned way. Folks were sure friendly here, and everyone we saw waved and smiled. We enjoyed the bush-whack into the shelter-belt, and were amazed to find the 7 and 10 clues as described, clever. T: mind twister game, L: rocket launder for those wanna-be rocket scientists. Nice hide! TFTC! SL.

Traditional Cachep. 20 KO Lee Cache
---(2006-12-10, 15:33: 2)--- Yes, it is a nice area. You'll never guess that you are close to a large SD city. We saw lots of deer tracks, but not the real thing; heard a dog barking, but didn't see him either. Cache is in great shape, but has moved some a bit north to escape the swath of moved trees. T: magnetic checkers game, L: yellow toy car. Nice hide! TFTC! SL.

Traditional Cachep. 21 I Like Ike
---(2007-08-06, 11:41:55)--- It was great to find another cache in Webster; and this one is a short walk from parking and hidden in a cute spot. We got here during a downpour and were obliged to deploy the umbrellas for our final sprint to the cache. TNLN. Nice Hide! TFTC! SL.

Traditional Cachep. 22 Roadside Park Ancient Burial Mounds
---(2006-12-10, 11:36:57)--- Wow! Now this was some view of the lake off to the east from high ground. It was a bingo-bonanza what with two historic markers, a National Natural Landmark (Ancient River Warren), ancient burial mounds, and a cache! We strongly discourage use of iMacateer's coords and the suggested dirt road ascending from the east off Lakeside Dr. This is NOT the way to go. From Brown Valley, just stay on SD Hwy 10 past the Lakeshore Drive and up the hill to the plateau, and you'll see the Roadside Rest Area sign not far from where 10 turns north. iMacateer's route would be OK IF, on only if, 10 is under construction and jammed up, but not otherwise. This route will allow you to drive right to the cache area. Great hide, nice job Milbank on all these Big Stone caches! TFTC! SL.

Traditional Cachep. 23 Big Stone Lake - Hartford State Park-Lake Wilcox
---(2006-12-10, 10: 9:29)--- This was a great hike through the forest along the lake with great views all the way to the cache. Lots of ice on the trail from creek overflow. Cache was in great shape. T: rocket launcher, L: new SD quarter. Great hide! TFTC! SL.

Traditional Cachep. 24 Center of Nation
---(2007-01-23, 18: 0:17)--- We again saw Bear Butte on the horizon to the southwest on the road to this cache. It woiuld be great to have a cache at the tri-state marker at the junction of MT/SD/WY, assuming there is one. We got to this cache a bit late, so we only had rapidly fading twilight. We did manage to get out into the pasture, using flashlights, to find and photograph the 1959 survey marker. We highly recommend this cache, but you should do it during the day time for best results. Great hide! TFTC! SL.

Traditional Cachep. 25 Newell
---(2007-07-16, 18:55:42)--- We came by here after a long days drive on a hot day and thus eager to make fast work of this one. We found it quick, but then had to sign the log, which took just a tad more time. Cache is right where it's supposed to be, always a delight on this sort of cache. Clever Hide! TFTC. SL as pdr358.

Traditional Cachep. 26 Monument Hill
---(2007-07-16, 20:00:11)--- We crossed the prairie and enjoyed the splendid views of the area and espeically the ubiquitus Buttes and historic significance of this region. Easy stroll to the cache with the scent of nostalgia in the air. Clever Hide! TFTC. SL as pdr358.

Traditional Cachep. 27 Durkee & Dinos
---(2007-07-17, 15:35:16)--- We got here at precisely the time when the big fire ball in the sky has gotten things splendidly hot and it was sweltering today. We walked in from the south and were pleased that a bit of wind afforded a bit of relief from the heat. Cache is in good shape, and we walked right up to this one. T: very nice hat pin quoting anon with "If its to be, its up to me." L: star-shaped slinky. Nice Hide! TFTC! SL.

Traditional Cachep. 28 Foster Bay - Lakeside Use Area
---(2007-07-17, 10:55:45)--- Our first cache of the day so got this one before the big fire ball in the sky had a chance to really get things heated up. Wonderful drive into an area not many see these days. We did find out what it is that is missing here. Shocking. We had a refreshing short hike and found this one right where its supposed to be and in good shape. This one could be tough when the deep snows blanket the prairie. TFTC! Clever Hide! SL as pdr358.

Traditional Cachep. 29 Little Bend
---(2007-07-21, 10:29: 4)--- FTF in 2007 and one of our favorites! We brought the bikes along to tackle this one and it sure made for a great ride. Wonderful scenic views all along the way, with the Missouri River on both sides of the pennisula. We enjoyed the art work on the very well done unique log book. We've driven out to the northern end of Big Bend penninsula, which is flat ag land and difficult to get a good vantage point. Little bend is so much more scenic, and one of the most scenic places on the Missouri River. We'd recommend this hike/bike to anyone. T: cloth Microsoft Education frisbie(?) and a pair of geek ear rings made from recycled hard drive parts, cool! L: 3 dinosaurs, fancy pencil, and some travel brochures. Great Hide! TFTC. SL.

Traditional Cachep. 30 Sully Fair
---(2007-07-18, 14:29: 2)--- The old County Seat has a commanding view of Main Street in this small town. We walked right up to this one on a hot summer day, as the cache is right where its supposed to be. Sully is a well-known name down by our neck of the woods in Gregory County. T: plastic clamp; L: globe keychain. Nice Hide! TFTC! SL.
