Branded Promotions

If you work in Marketing for a large brand, you're probably perpetually thinking about “the old” vs. “the new” — about traditional media vs. social media; about agency-created vs. community-created. Striking the right balance between the “old and tangible” and the “new and digital” is an ever-evolving challenge.

We can help.

With access to over 5 million geocachers worldwide (generating more than 135 million page views monthly), we've worked with major brands to develop beneficial programs that add fun to the game and garner respect from the geocaching community. Working with the likes of Jeep, Timberland, GEICO, Ranger Rick, PBS, Magellan and Garmin, we've created programs that involve both the old and the new.

Working closely with these (and other) partners, we've created engaging, measurable promotions that not only energize geocachers as they engage with brands, but that also live on, long after the promotions are 'officially' over.

Here's a quick look at some of the tools at our disposal:

Trackables

Trackables are geocaching “treasures” that you create for the geocaching community. Once discovered by geocachers, Trackables travel from geocache to geocache — and their movements are logged and monitored on Geocaching.com. Individual Trackables have passed through the hands of thousands of geocachers and logged over 40,000 miles. That's a lot of miles — and a lot of tangible and digital impressions. One Trackable has even ventured into outer space — and returned safely to Earth. Examples of Trackables are shown at right.

“Geocoins” are Trackables in the form of a collectable coin. Geocachers thrive on finding Geocoins. There are currently over 2 million Geocoins in circulation among the 5 million+ geocachers worldwide. Examples of Geocoins are shown at right.

Photo Contests

Geocachers are an incredibly creative — and a somewhat competitive — bunch. Marry a branded Trackable with a Photo Contest, and geocachers are capable of creating a wealth of valuable promotional content — content they share not only with other geocachers on Geocaching.com, but also with their extended networks on Facebook and other social networks. Examples of geocacher-created imagery from a recent Trackable Photo Contest are shown at right.
