Salute to Stute is a 7 part multi-cache. It is located at the
remains of the Anton Stute farm, just outside of Eagle, WI. Not
many people know of this place, I have never seen anyone else there
on my visits.
This cache is designed to be a scenic, low impact tour, which
will show some of the cultural history of the area.
It took us 2 hours to create the cache, so plan on that amount
of time to complete the adventure. Approximate total walking
distance is 1.5 mile. Average terrain difficulty is a 2, however
parts may get up to a 3 1/2.
All the parts to the cache are located on, or near, the trails.
You will not need to leave the trails, except for the last 150
feet. It is recommended you stay on the trails to preserve the
native plants in the area.
Along your adventure you will see the remains of a 180 year old
farm. Some of the buildings have been rebuilt to their original
condition. You will also see water bubbling out of the ground at
several fresh water, cold springs.
Be sure to come prepared to this adventure. You will want to
bring the following items: Camera, Notebook (for recording the next
cache), drinking water, and plenty of bug spray.
The first 6 cache's are nothing more than a tag, with the
coordinates and clues printed on them for the next cache. Each new
"cache" (tag) will point you in the direction of the next. The
chain of sites will bring you full circle around the old farm
site.
The cache tag at the initial starting point, is the same type of
tag that you will be looking for along your journey. All are the
same, however, color differs.
The final cache is a large ammo container, painted green, with
"Geocaching" written all over it with white paint.
** PLEASE DO NOT POST ANY FURTHER CLUES, DESCRIPTIONS OR
COORDINATES IN YOUR LOG **
*** NOTE: Recently a short wooden fence has been erected
between stages #2 and #3. This fence was erected to help mark the
turn for the nature trail. You will need to go over/around the
fence and continue on the trail on the the other side. ***
