Geocache Description:

DO NOT GO TO THE LISTED COORDINATES!!! THEY ARE BOGUS!!! Please begin at the waypoint below, the Ice Age Interpretive Center.

Considered by many to be the premier long hike in the Chippewa Valley, the Ice Age Trail loop is a 4.5 mile hike through varied terrain.

When complete, the Ice Age Trail will be over 1200 miles long stretching across Wisconsin tracing the path of the last glacial advance. We are fortunate, here in the Chippewa Valley to have one of the most unique segments of the IAT right in our own backyard. The Chippewa Moraine unit NE of New Auburn offers some magnificent hiking opportunities in the form of the loop trail and the main E-W running main trail of the IAT. This 3 part series attempts to give you a taste of the loop trail, it's fantastic scenery and the geologic wonders of the ice age.

Cache is located on State property. The notification form has been submitted and approved by the West central Regional headquarters in Eau Claire.

Coords to cache: N45.13.ABC W091.24.DEF

Clue "ABC" can be found in the cache: IAT: NORTH SHATTUCK

Clue "DEF" can be found in the cache: IAT:LOST KETTLE

Recommended route is to follow the loop trail from the interpretive center heading west. All 3 caches can be found in order doing it this way. Difficulty rating reflects the distance of the hike.

A BIG thanks to 'yuppers' who pioneered geocaching along the Ice Age Trail in our region.
