This cache-series introduces you to the world of NHL ice
hockey.
Series consists of four caches altogether: the first two caches
are easy traditional caches called the Unknown Team 1 and the
Unknown Team 2. After you have found these two, you can go after
two a bit harder caches; a mystery cache called the Unknown Team 3
and a mystery bonus cache called the Hockey Hall of Fame.
There are two different tasks you need to accomplish to get
through the whole series.
Firstly, you have to find the first two caches and then
solve the puzzle and think were on earth is the third cache, the
Unknown Team 3.
Secondly, you need to get N and E coordinates given in
every Unknown Team cache in order to find your way to the Hockey
Hall of Fame.
In every cache description, there is a piece of knowledge about
the National Hockey League. There are also separate instructions at
the same pages concerning the cache in question.
The words of the Great one, Wayne "99" Gretzky about famous
Finnish player Esa Tikkanen will speed you through the series: "He
brings something special. I don't know what it is, but if you ask
him, you couldn't understand his answer." Tikkanen is famous for
his "crypted" way to speak English. The language Tikkanen uses is
sometimes called Tikkanese or Tikitalk.

The Unknown Team 1
Find this cache and find out the name of the Unknown Team 1. It
will help you to find the Unknown Team 3. Check also the
coordinates for the Hockey Hall of Fame.
National Hockey League (NHL) was found in Montreal in 1917. In
the first season there were only three playing teams, because
Montreal Wanderers home arena was burnt. Season 1918-1919 was
cancelled because most of the players suffered influenza. League
was practically played only by “original six teams” (Montreal
Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings,
Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers) to year 1967, when the NHL
expanded. Between these early years the rules of the game expanded
as well. For example, passing forward in any part of the rink was
allowed in season 1929-1930.
Please pay extra attention that the cache won´t be
exposed.
