Geocache Description:

Unknown team 1 was archived. Hint from that cache is: Team Minnesota Wild N6xx

This cache-series introduces you to the world of NHL ice hockey.

Series consists of four caches altogether: the first two caches are easy traditional caches called the Unknown Team 1 and the Unknown Team 2. After you have found these two, you can go after two a bit harder caches; a mystery cache called the Unknown Team 3 and a mystery bonus cache called the Hockey Hall of Fame.

There are two different tasks you need to accomplish to get through the whole series.

Firstly, you have to find the first two caches and then solve the puzzle and think were on earth is the third cache, the Unknown Team 3.

Secondly, you need to get N and E coordinates given in every Unknown Team cache in order to find your way to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

In every cache description, there is a piece of knowledge about the National Hockey League. There are also separate instructions at the same pages concerning the cache in question.

Esa Tikkanen played in victorious Edmonton Oilers in late 1980s. He was a winger in a superline Kurri-Gretzky-Tikkanen. The Oilers remembers Tikkanen on its legends-website with following words: "Esa, who spoke in the multicultural tongue of Tikkanese - a combination of Finnish, Swedish and English all at once plus a few words he made up himself - has five Cups. Not too many people can equal that."

The Unknown Team 2

Find this cache and find out the name of the Unknown Team 2. It will help you to find the Unknown Team 3. Check also the coordinates for the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The league expanded rapidly in 1960s. Nowadays there are 30 teams playing for the Stanley Cup. The NHL internationalized in 1980s. Lots of European players were drafted after few guides succeeded in the league. One legendary Slovakian trio, the Stastnys played in Quebec Nordiques in early 1980s. The Slovaks defected to USA and lead way to other European players.
