This cache is located in Pattison State Park so a small fee does apply. This state park is located on the Black River and has two waterfalls, Little Manitou Falls and Big Manitou Falls which is the highest waterfall in Wisconsin at 165 ft. The park is open year round and has camping and over 11 miles of hiking and cross country skiing trails.
The canoopy was heavy where I placed the cache so I hoope the coordinants are right on.
This area is also known for its copper and you can see this throughout the park with test holes, pits, trenches and shafts scattered around the park. At the base of the Big Manitou an old mine sight can be seen and a shallow cave is on the left side of the little Manitou Falls.
The park is named after Martin Pattison. A very successful and wealthy man in the lumber and iron ore business. He even purchased an entire city block and built a 42 room manison named the Fairlawn. (Now is the Douglas County Historical Museum) In 1917 Pattison learned that they were going to build a power dam on the Black River so he purchased 660 acres along the river and donated it to the state.
