Warning: plundering a castle
is an inherently dangerous business, and may require battling your
way through an array of defenses.
In a dark, hidden chamber,
deep inside the tallest tower in Flagstaff’s
castle, there is a shrine full of gold-coins. To get to the
treasure, you will need the following specialist equipment: a
catapult, a ram and a ladder.
A catapult stationed at the
above coordinates will hit the castle, if it shoots at maximum
range (X meters) at 48ºtrue. Assume equal initial and final
elevation for the projectile’s trajectory, and the
projectile’s initial velocity is V.
A ram beginning its run with
855m head-start and the same initial velocity V but slowed down by
scrub (coefficient of dynamic friction m=5) will also come to a
halt exactly at GZ. The ram is not propelled by any external force,
and is bound to a horizontal surface.
Once at GZ, take out that
step-ladder to reach the top of the castle’s highest tower.
You’ll find a camo jar with the
coordinates for the nearby final stash.
You won’t actually
need a ladder, but the presence of a mate might help. I recommend
you only attempt this cache in dry weather. Keep kids under
supervision, and small children are better left at home.
Please take your time to
return the waypoint and the cache as you found them. They should
both last a long time. Pencil and paper might help in the final
quest for the treasure.
