WSQ Calvary Cemetery Tour Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

kit'n'kaboodle: As the trail will be paved this summer and the cache has been muggled, i have decided to archive this one. Maybe I will revive it somewhere else with new clues and a new final location. Thanks to all who did this rather time consuming cache!

This cache has a twofold purpose: a tour of a historic cemetery on the western-central border of Milwaukee and, secondarily, an introduction to the eastern end of a new Rails-to-Trails which eventually will extend out to the borders of Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties.

Welcome to Calvary Cemetery, one of the oldest Catholic cemeteries in the State of Wisconsin. Among those buried here are Solomon Juneau, Milwaukee’s 1st mayor, Patrick Cudahy the meat packer, and the brewery Miller family. There are also markers for many victims of the Lady Elgin shipwreck of 1860 which killed over 400 people although few victims were recovered.

This is a 9-part multi which is really pretty easy. You will visit 8 sites throughout the cemetery to get one digit at each for the location: N43.0G.ABC W87 5H.DEF The final is not in the cemetery but is along a new Rail-to-Trails path (not yet paved as of July 2007). Your GPS maps will indicate a railroad but not only is it defunct but the tracks have been taken up for salvage.

I have arranged the clues A-H in a somewhat circular fashion taking you around the cemetery ending back at the entrance although, you may do this in any order.

SITE A (MCMAHON): The Above co-ordinates. LAST DIGIT IN YEAR MINUS 5.

SITE B (CUDAHY): N43 02.055 W87 59.006 # OF WORDS IN DEDICATION

SITE C (DREW): N43 02.052 W87 58.899 # OF LETTERS IN 4TH WORD IN BIBLE QUOTE

SITE D (KENTENICH): N43 02.015 W87 58.877 LAST DIGIT IN 2ND YEAR MINUS 5

SITE E (CERA): N43 01.932 W87 58.899 3RD DIGIT IN YEAR

SITE F (CHAPEL): N43 02.040 W87 58.803 LAST DIGIT IN CORNERSTONE MINUS 3

SITE G (MILLER): N43 02.088 W87 58.832 LAST DIGIT IN BIRTH YEAR OF FRED SR. MINUS 5

SITE H (GATEHOUSE): N43 02.192 W87 58.928 3RD DIGIT IN CORNERSTONE

The cache is a medium-sized ammo box with the log (bring your own pen). I have no goodies in it BUT the 1st finder may take the 1957 $1 Silver Certificate! I wanted to find cemetery-related items but I don’t have any. Feel free to leave some.
