Houdini Caching Tour Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

seldom|seen: So, after adopting and hoping to update, the series is still in the works after several years. The bad news is that I am archiving this version.

The good news is that I am presently working with Tom Boldt to add another 6-9 plaques to add to the series which should be out this fall. When that happens, I hope to publish a new Wherigo for the whole series and the Bust we added to Houdini Plaza 2 years ago. Stay tuned...

Geocache Description:

DO NOT GO TO THE ABOVE COORDINATES AS YOU WOULD MOST LIKELY BE RUN OVER IN HEAVY TRAFFIC!!! This cache cache will take you on a tour of Harry Houdini's life. You can start your search at any of the listed waypoints.

Appleton lays claim to being the childhood home of Ehrich Weiss, A.K.A. Harry Houdini. In the 1980’s a series of site markers were installed around Appleton to mark various events in Houdini’s life. Significant research by Outagamie County Historical society staff finds that some of the information is inaccurate. As you take this tour you will be supplied with corrected information about each of the sites and directions for determining coordinate numbers to find the final WPT. Take some time to learn about Appleton’s magical history and find a cache in the process.

Buildings and obstructions in the area may cause your GPS to act strangely (or was it Harry himself?) as my GPSr did on each of the three times I "tried" to verify the waypoints. The coords should bring you close enough to find the site markers needed to secure the needed information.

Grab your GPS and head to the first location for the start of a “guided” tour. At each stop you will glean a number.

When doing your calculations, do NOT count Harry's signature at the top of the site markers as a line. Substitute the numbers here for the final location.

Now, for those of you who find this history and Houdini fascinating, YOU MUST VISIT THE "AKA HOUDINI" EXHIBIT at the Historical Museum. It is exceptionally well put together and the hands on stuff for understanding how he did some of his escapes is fantastic! Don't do the section of the exhibit that show some of his tactics if you don't want to spoil the illusion or had kids that you don't want it spoiled for. Please go see it anyway.

A little help for you because some of the information is missing... B=4 K=0 L=5
