Geocache Description:

White Cross is one of many caches on the Outback Way-finder Trail, "the longest geocache trail in the world".

G'day Geocachers,
White Cross cache is located in a 'breakaway' rocky valley that is part of the Hoffman Ranges in the Great Victoria Desert bio-region of Australia. The area is known to the local Aboriginal people as "Peegul". The large white wooden cross was installed in this location by Aboriginal Christians in 1991 as a symbol of a 'new journey of reconciliation'.

This cache contains items with an outback theme, one of over 30 similar caches located on the Outback Way between Laverton, WA and Winton, Qld. Good luck finding them all.

Activity: Climb to the high point on the ridge and enjoy magnificent views to the surrounding landscape, note the large salt lake to the north - this is Lake Throssell. It only holds water following heavy rainfall. Explore the nearby caves - note the bird nests on the roof of the cave. What bird lives here? What material did they use to make the nest? Look carefully and you will see very old Aboriginal paintings. Look but don't touch please.
