How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Cache is NOT at the posted coords (Middle of the Fraser River). It is however in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. You must READ and MEET the requirements to log this cache! When you are all done, email wild wiggly beanz for confirmation you are eligible to hunt the cache and learn how to claim your prize.

This cache is not for everybody. It may not be for you. By time you complete this cache you will have a pretty complete icon collection.

To claim a find on this cache, you will need to:

1. Find at least one cache of every difficulty/terrain combination (81 unique combinations).

2. Find or Attend at least one of each of the cache types (inside or outside of the 81 unique D/T combinations):

- Traditional Cache

- Multi Cache

- Letterbox Hybrid

- Unknown/Puzzle Cache

- EarthCache

- Event Cache

- CITO Event

- Virtual Cache (Grandfathered Type)

- Webcam Cache (Grandfathered Type)

- NGS Benchmark listed on the geocaching.com site - not part of the 81 but still an icon.

We do not require a Project APE or Mega-Event Cache because they are so rare and never in BC. Bonus bragging rights for finding them though. Locationless caches are moved off the site so they do not count. The caches do not have to be in BC to count.

3. Place/Host at least 1 of each of these cache types and have the non-event caches currently active when you log the find on this cache:

- Traditional Cache

- Multi Cache

- Letterbox Hybrid

- EarthCache

- Unknown Cache

- Event Cache

- CITO Event

Again, since Geocaching is a worldwide game, the caches do not have to be in BC to count

4. Release, into the wild, at least 1 trackable Geocoin or TB. You should also move at least 10 trackables.

How do you track your caches finds? There are at least three options:

1) Create a bookmark list and keep track

2) Upload your My Finds PQ to It's Not About The Numbers http://www.itsnotaboutthenumbers.com/

3) Use FizzyMagic's FindStats Program (requires download)

4) Any other method that can easily show us that you found all the caches combination.

The Caches Placed Requirement, Geocoin/TB requirements, cache type requirements, and the NGS Benchmark will be checked against your user profile.

The Rules:

1. Use common sense. If you cheat, you mainly cheat yourself. However, if you cheat we will delete your log and state why we deleted your log in its place.

2. All PREVIOUS cache finds, hides, and Coin/TB movements DO count - you do NOT start from "Zero" at this point

3. RULE CHANGE - any caches you find do count when ever they were published. A series was placed just after this was published with a bogus ratings to fulfil the requirements- please try and do caches that actually do meet the ratings not just randomly designated as Terrain and Difficulty to get all 81. Cheating in life is not an accomplishment. All finds (except the Event and CITO Events) must be on

4. No rating changes of existing caches will be accepted as counting towards your goal

5. Generally accepted rules, guidelines and conditions for logging a cache find apply. You must find the someone else's cache, sign the log (except were there is no log of course), and log your find online. If there are special requirements to do or questions to answer, you need to complete the requirements and answer the questions. All caches must be listed on Geocaching.com

6. If you have others with you when you find the final cache, only those who have fulfilled ALL criteria for this cache will be allowed to log it as a find. - Finds without the proper back-up will be deleted

7. This cache does not count as the 5/5 in the matrix. You must find another 5/5.

8. Due to expected very limited traffic on this cache, you can log in trackables when you find it, but please log them out immediately as well. This will not become a trackable prison.

9. Because of the very unique nature of this cache, the cache owner (legacy and co.) is also allowed to log this as a find (if we can get all the requirements done!)

Thanks for respecting these easy rules - we want a level playing field. This is supposed to be fun! To get credit for this find (and keep your find from being deleted) you must post one of the following with your found log:

A) A link to a bookmark list showing all the caches that meet the requirements; OR

B) A link to your page on ItsNotAboutTheNumbers showing your finds; OR

C) Some other easily confirmed proof acceptable to us as the cache owner

The 5/5 for the overall cache rating is based on the need to do so many caches first to qualify your find.

This cache was inspired by GC11E8N Well Rounded Cacher (The Fizzy Challenge) by Kealia. This is the 4th identified cache of this type in the world after the California, Washington and Indiana versions. We have modified some of the rules though, and by requiring the placement of caches, this cache is actually a bit harder.

REVISIONS:

Sept 13/07: Clarified that since Geocaching is a worldwide activity, the cache finds AND hides do not have to be in BC only but can be anywhere in the world. The final is in the Lower Mainland of BC. The similar Washington State Fizzy Challenge does require all activity to be in WA, which is their version and is perfectly fine. We will, however, be considering that it is mostly BC based players involved if there is an issue with a missing D/T combo.

Sept 13/07 and Sept 14/07 revision to the the revision. Turns out you can not adopt an archived event (or any) cache, so people who hosted events under a master BCGA account are not able to claim the event as a hide. So go host a pub night, breakfast, picnic in the snow, or whatever under your own account. It does not have to be fancy - just a chance for cachers to get together. Also noted that while you may both place and attend the same event, for purposes of this challenge the "attends" you count can not be on your own event. No double dipping in the event bowl please.

March 26/08: After a request, made cache viewable to all cachers

Final cache location near home of wild wiggly beanz in Port Coquitlam
