A short walk from the second overlook on the Jake's Rocks perimeter road will take you to this cache. Note that no bushwhacking is necessary if you take the obvious route.
AGT-WARREN-KINZUA DAM OVERLOOK
The geocache hidden at the posted coordinates is a regular geocache, however, it is also part of the Allegheny GeoTrail (AGT), a publicly funded project designed to promote a pleasant and positive experience and image of the Allegheny National Forest region and its gateway communities. The AGT utilizes the growing interest in geocaching to assist both residents and visitors to the area in learning more about the unique attractions in the ten participating counties. This cache contains a unique self inking rubber stamp which you should use to stamp your Allegheny GeoTrail Passport to verify that you found it. When you have found a minimum of six AGT caches, you will be eligible to have your AGT passport validated and receive a commemorative AGT trackable geocoin at participating locations. You must have your official AGT passport with you when you find this cache in order to stamp it. This cache is located a short walk from the second overlook parking area on the Jake's Rocks perimeter road.
The parking area coordinates are 41° 50.456'N 078°58.928'W.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A DAY USE AREA, AND THE PERIMETER ROAD IS CLOSED FROM 10PM TO 6AM, SO PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT THE CACHE DURING THOSE HOURS! This cache contains Warren County GeoTrail stamp #05 for stamping your Allegheny GeoTrail passport. DO NOT REMOVE THE STAMP FROM THE CACHE AS THOSE FOLLOWING YOU WILL NEED IT ALSO.
The cache is located within a short walk. No bushwhacking should be needed to reach it IF you take the most obvious route (hint...). You may wish to take your time and try to determine the best route once you are close. The cache itself is a 50 caliber ammo can.
I strongly urge you to take the road down into Jake's Rocks and visit that area while you are here. The rocks are amazing and there is a nice paved pathway for those who don't choose to go among the rocks themselves. There are some nice overlooks as well. You could also do kcpenn's Earthcache, Jake's Rocks - The Allegheny Plateau while there.
