Geocache Description:

A Flash Mob Gathering of Geocachers. Only 15 minutes long! You MUST be present and sign a log sheet DURING this time to claim the event. Please BYOP! (Bring your own pen)

The World Wide Flash Mob Event

This event is timed to coincide with many others just like it all over the world! At exactly two weeks before the event, there are 73 participating events listed on Geocaching.com! You can see the current listing at this link.

We would like to host a caching event to bring together geocachers and introduce others (newbies) to the hobby.

This event, however, will be quite unique, and creative.

You're heard of mega-events? This is quite the opposite in a variety of ways. Flash mobs have gathered for many other reasons, all over the world. Come be part of this historic event!

The event will last exactly 15 minutes, not one second longer!

The event will begin precisely at 11:00am on November 10th. The event will be held at Foster Park. This is in a public park in Le Mars. The event will be highly organized and facilitated by volunteers. A minute-by-minute itinerary will be posted here prior to the event. We will also have printed copies of this ultra-precise itinerary distributed at the event.

The Plan:

-At exactly 11:00am (as determined by the GPS clock) we will place a bucket full of nice, new swag at the coordinates. We will place a small CD player on the ground near the bucket to play some pleasant, upbeat music.

-One volunteer will hand out "log sheets". Participants will sign the log sheets (which will later become a log book), to qualify for attendance and drop them in a designated collection container. Bring a pen. Participants may trade swag via the swag bucket at any time. We encourage you to bring nice swag to trade. Another volunteer will hand out raffle tickets. Another volunteer will hand out name tags and markers.

-If any muggles are curious about the event we will have a volunteer hand out fliers that explain geocaching.

-At a designated time, we will toss out Hershey Kisses (or another appropriate entrée) to all attendance for the event "meal".
-At a designated time, we will take a group photo.
-At a designated time, we will call out the raffle winners.

-At precisely 11:15 the bucket, and the log sheets will be packed up and sealed away. The event area will be vacated without a trace. Events that happen after 11:15:01 do not count as part of THIS event.

Only those participants whose names appear on the log sheets may log the event.

We hope to gather a "good showing" of cachers at this event. Tell your friends and help promote the event.

Surely there will be several muggles nearby who will wonder "What did I just see? What just happened?"

Note: The Yahoo map below shows the event in the correct location, but the park is shown too big and in the wrong location! It's bordered by Central Ave to the West, and is between 5th and 7th Sts SE.

Volunteers are needed! Please contact us using our information above ASAP if you are willing to help out. We have specific tasks to delegate.

It is POSSIBLE that there may be some new caches in the area, to be released around the time of this event. Perhaps we'll draw for FTF advantages. . . Again, it's possible. No promises.
