From 1846 to 1849, colonists from the Netherlands held services by singing hymns and reading sermons from a book published in Rotterdam in 1777.
In 1858, land was purchased for a church and cemetery.
The official name was Zion's Congregational Gereformende Gemente.
Scottish families arrived and joined the Dutch in church services. In1859, one English service was held each month.
It is generally refered to as the Oak Mound Church, as the church is surrounded by oak trees.
The cache is not on nor near any markers. If a burial is in progress, please return at a later time.
