Rocks and their age
Rock scan be dated by the decay of radio-active minerals in them. Because of their great age, granites from Uppsala region Sweden are also refered to as ‘Archoic granites’
During their long life the rocks were exposed to harsh conditions of wear and tear. They were crushed under the ice and transported in rivers. And even now they are exposed to the daily cycle of heating and cooling, in the end they will break down into sands, clays and fine till.
