NO. 185 SERRANO BOULDER
Registration Date: 6/20/1935
"As early as 1818, Don Leandro Serrano had cattle, sheep, cultivated land, and orchards in Temescal Valley. The boulder placed by residents of Temescal Valley marks the site of the first house in Riverside County, erected by Leandro Serrano about May 1824."
Park near WP#1, Walk along the road on the west side of the WHITE FENCE to the cluster of trees. The fence deviates and goes around the cluster, go half way around and you will be at GZ and the opening into the cluster of trees. The map shows the original site in the field, but the cluster of trees hides the Boulder.
You are looking for a pill container placed near the entry of the cluster at the WHITE FENCE. Please make sure cache is replaced when done and the FENCE POST CAP looks like the rest.
IF you want to see the "Serrano Boulder", enter the cluster of trees through the opening by the cache, go west about 30 ft where you will see a chain link fence overgrown on your right under the canopy of low branches. Pass the chain link fence and immediately turn right and go to the other side of the fence segment, look north and you will see the boulder with a large branch on top about 15 ft north of the fence. It's the ONLY BOULDER here. Path to the boulder is easy inside.
