I followed the old main street onto the old (abandoned) airport
road past the airport buildings to the shelter shed beside the
water and then walked to within about 500 meters of the crater.
Quite a sound and smoke show !!! Not for the feint hearted. The
Cache is quite a distance back towards the town from here, so no
worries .
The cache is a plastic clip lid container about 5" X 5" X 5"
with log book and instruction card. I forgot to take a pencil but
left eraser and pencil sharpener and a small cheap biro. Would the
first seeker please take a pencil as the biro may have given up the
ghost by the time someone finds the cache.
Small note on cache maintenance: There is a local
"cache guardian". Name and contact info on file with
geocaching.com
I have marked the attributes as dangerous only because of the
proximity of the Volcano.
