How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

This is a two part cache around the Honeoye Falls, New York area. You must use your FM radio to determine the final location of the cache.

The above coordinates will take you to just outside my residence. Park your car and start looking on the FM radio band for the repeating transmission. The transmitting range is only 20 to 30 feet, so you will have to be close to the actual coordinates. Turn your radio or vehicle 90 or 180 degrees to improve reception if necessary. There are usually one or two parking spaces available, but if not, reception from the street is possible.

Got this idea from the Madison FM cache in the State of Alabama (GC17Y0T).

Once you have found the correct frequency, you will hear a couple of geocaching songs. In between the songs the information as to the description of the cache, the type of container, approximate distance from your current location to the hide and the all important latitude and longitude will be given. If you have not heard the songs, sit and listen awhile. Think you will definitely enjoy the lyrics.

The cache container contains some more radio fun. I will try to keep the supply sufficient for everyone. Please take only one per geocaching party. Thank You.

Good caching to you.

Note: Should there be a power failure, common during thunderstorms in my area, I will have to reset the recording. However, will check transmission often to be sure it is working.
