Geocache Description:

A short walk through time

Cache is not at posted coordinates. Those coordinates will however, take you very close to the final resting spot of the "Sage of Hickory Hill."

To get the final coordinates, you will have to learn a little about one of Thomson's most-famous native sons. All research should be done before heading out to the cache site. "Hickory Hill" would be a great place to start!

Final is a micro hidden in the usual manner. No need to walk on any cemetery plot to retrieve the cache. There are small roadways all around to lead you to both areas you will visit. Take some time to look around at other names buried here. You may have heard of some others as well.

Final cache is located at:
AB CD.EFG HIJ KL.MNO

C= last digit of year he entered Mercer (knew I would get that place mentioned in one of our caches)

E= last # in year of his death

F= numeric equivalent to the month the Zeigler Brothers surrendered to the sheriff

G= # of times he married

H= last digit of year he purchased a home & land from Captain John Wilson

I= # of letters in last name of closest friend who killed someone in 1889

J= # of grandchildren

K= # of digits in the abbreviation of the Postal Delivery system he was "Father of"

L= # of children who survived him

MN= his age when he represented defendant in the Cody trial
O= First # in the "Bloody District" he represented

Hope you learned a lot about this wise man! Now go out and pay him a visit! How old do you think all of those Magnolia trees are? They are huge!
