Geocache Description:

OK, officially it’s known as Field Sike Park for the name of the small sike running through it. However, in the not so distant past, the City of Bettendorf had a contest to name this park. Despite the fact I gave a last minute entry without too much thought put into it, I won. My name will NOT appear anywhere in the park despite the fact that my family feels it is my park because I won the contest. So, I thought I would place a cache here to have my name associated with the park in some way.

I have had a cache planned here for a long time, but just hadn’t gotten around to placing it. Originally, I was just going to throw another cheesy micro above the picnic tables in the shelter area. I was out here with some boy scouts who were working on an eagle project this weekend and planned to place the cache. I saw a map of the park, and I realized this park was much bigger than I thought it was. So, I scrapped my plans (I didn’t like them much anyway… who needs another cheesy micro) and started hatching some new ones. This is the result:

This is a small 3-stage multicache designed to make you more familiar with the new park. The final is a decon container for some small trade items. Sorry about the log condition, I had originally had other plans as noted above.

Parking is available off of Field Sike Road near the playground area. The park is a narrow strip of land surrounded by a residential area and a future residential area. Stage 1 is nearly at the far boundary of the park. If you park in the parking lot, and walk along the creek, you should avoid entering any residential areas. All told, you should end up walking a mile or so in finding this cache.

To complete the cache, proceed to the listed coordinates. There you will find a structure imported from Wisconsin. On the north side of the structure you will find a hyphenated number. Let the first 4 digits of the number be ABCD. To find stage 2, proceed to N 41 34. (B-A)(D/2)(D-A-C) W 090 29.(B-D)(B-C)(D). There you will find a micro containing the coordinates to the final stage.

Have fun and enjoy the new park!
