Located on a small hill midway between Skelwith Bridge & Loughrigg Tarn.
Nothing special about the cache but I'll try to keep it fully stocked with the usual stuff throughout the year.
On a clear day, the views from the cache are sheer bliss. From a viewpoint within yards of the cache, you can see Loughrigg Fell, part of the Helvelyn range, Langdale Pikes,Coniston, Elterwater etc etc. A really superb and usually very quiet viewpoint.
Parking either near Loughrigg Tarn or at Skelwith Bridge, or for the REALLY bone idle, VERY short term parking is available at the top of the Neaum Crag development with with the cache about 2 minutes walk away!
The cache is located just a few yards from the "summit" on the Elterwater side. Look for a small rock with a sharp pointed top. The cache is hidden at its base.
WARNING: Although the cache location is obvious in Autumn, winter and spring, in summer it is obscured by tall bracken. If you DO manage to find it in summer, please spend a few minutes trampling down the surrounding bracken to make its discovery easier for the next person!!!!
As the site is more difficult to find in the summer months I'll give a few extra hints. Right next to the cache are two small trees, an oak tree and an even smaller beech tree. You can't miss them as there's only a handful of small trees on the whole hillside! The cache is BELOW the smaller hazel tree .... and within 3 or 4 yards of the oak tree! I can't make it any easier! TRUST your GPS ..... I've tried locating the cache with three different GPS's .... EVERY one gets me to within 3 metres!
