Summer Reading Program Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

cubschris: This cache had a good run, but it seems the time has come to archive it. GZ is now a dirt heap rather than the lovely old tree that held the cache container. Thanks to @slavenrm for providing the inspiration for this one.

Geocache Description:

Cache is not at the listed coordinates. BYOP.

My former co-worker slavenrm is semi-retired from caching now, and so I recently adopted a number of his caches. One of my favorites was his Recommended Reading puzzle, but I chose to archive it because some clumsy fool lost the container.

But the concept of that puzzle deserved to live on. Unfortunately, I'm not the avid reader that slavenrm is, so I had to steal my recommended reading list from an institution noted for its contemporary literary scholarship.

I'm referring, of course, to Oprah's Book Club. While you puzzle over the real coordinates for this cache, consider picking up these past Oprah favorites from your local library or bookstore:

Ernest J. Gaines, A Lesson Before Dying (1997)
Jane Hamilton, A Map of the World (1989)
Toni Morrison, The Bluest Eye (1972)
Sidney Poitier, The Measure of a Man: A Spiritual Autobiography (2001)
Carson McCullers, The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter (1943)
Anna Quindlen, Black and Blue (1997)
Alan Paton, Cry, The Beloved Country (1949)
Elie Wiesel, Night (English translation, 1958)
William Faulkner, Light in August (1942)
Wally Lamb, She's Come Undone (1991)
Joyce Carol Oates, We Were the Mulvaneys (1998)
Jonathan Franzen, The Corrections (2000)

FTF prize is an unactivated geocoin commemorating GeocoinFest 2007 in Temecula, CA.
