The "Wilson Creek Loop" will involve approximately 100 kms of
driving. 35 kms is on a paved highway. The other 65 kms is on the
Wilson Creek FSR which is described as a good, 2 wheel drive,
gravel road, and while that is mostly true the section from Wilson
Lake East along Wilson lake has some rather rough sections. Having
said that we saw more than one newer car on the road during our two
day camping trip to place this series of caches. While the tour can
be done either direction we have chosen to give you driving
directions from the Rosebery end.
This tour will take you to several pristine mountain lakes and
spectacular waterfalls with plenty of opportunities for camping,
hiking, and fishing. To get the most enjoyment out of this caching
series we strongly recommend bringing your camping gear. Also don't
forget your camera, bug spray, and fishing rods. As always,
remember to be bear aware.
Rosebery is located 5 kms north of New Denver on highway 6, at
the top of the beautiful Slocan Lake. Park at 50 01.939 117 24.793
at the trail head for the historic Galena Trail. Follow the trail
signs toward New Denver and past the outhouses. Watch for the
signed trail to the beach. PLEASE STAY ON THE TRAILS.
Camping is available nearby at Rosebery Provincial Campground
which has 36 sites with picnic tables, pit toilets, firewood and
water.
In order to locate the final cache:
"Wilson Creek Loop Final" you must
visit ten caches. Each cache will have a clue
written on the lid as well as in the logbook. Write the clue
down.
As this is a stand-a-lone cache, you are welcome to just log this
cache if you don't have time to take in the entire tour.
