We are pleased to announce the Second Annual GPS Challenge will run from July 10-21, 2008
What is the Challenge?
The challenge is too complete as many of the activities as possible through out the time period. By using your hand held GPS unit to navigate your way to a set of coordinates, there will be an activity that a team member will need to complete at each location
This is an unique way to explore Eastern Manitoba, and part take in activities that you may never get a chance to do again.
Objectives
Introduce exciting learning opportunities utilizing GPS technology
Create awareness of Eastern Manitoba, rural and Agri-tourism destinations
Teach about rural Manitoba and the various types of activities there are to do right in your back yard
Geocaching Safety Tips
Be aware of your surroundings by consulting a map and having a compass whenever using a GPS unit for recreational activities, including Geocaching
Be prepared for changing weather conditions and dress appropriately
Let someone know where you are going and have a cell phone in case of emergencies
Do not drive and use a GPS unit at the same time. Pay attention to and be aware of all road conditions at all times
Be especially mindful of possible unsafe surroundings.
Carry insect repellent and be aware of wood ticks.
A few things to keep in mind ...
Once registered a Guide book will be sent to you with further instructions and coordinates
Be prepared!! Many locations can only be visited during limited times
Take note of the time restrictions for the various challenge locations
HAVE FUN!!!
At some locations you may be asked to identify one person from your team to complete the challenge
Only one entry per household and/or team
