Finding the NANO (BYOP) will be the easier part of this two step cache. Once you've arrived at ground zero, take a look around and you should be able to locate an unusual statue outside the NCAA Hall of Champions Museum. The statue is a Signal lookalike, human size, frog-like creature dressed in a basketball uniform, quite fitting for Indiana. This is an excellent geocaching backdrop for your phoon photo. Strike the pose near "Signal" and have your accomplice (or a muggle) capture the moment. NOTE THAT SEASONALLY "SIGNAL" GOES MISSING, LOOK FOR NANO ON THE BENCH IN FRONT OF THE MUSEUM, THE FROG ISN'T ALWAYS THERE.
Each person claiming the cache must phoon in front of the camera. Simply being the photographer will not get you this cache.
So...what's a phoon? Check it out at
Rules for the Phoon pose:
- Stand sideways to the camera. (A Phoon is always viewed from the side.)
- Bend your arms at the elbows. (Look like an athletic runner, not a ballerina.)
- Lift your rear elbow (not your hand) so that it is easy to see behind your back.
- Lean forward at the waist. This will help you look more energetic and will help you lift your rear ankle.
- Bend at the knee, the leg you're standing on.
- When possible, do not look at the camera and do not smile.
- Either arm can be the rear arm. Either leg can be the rear leg.
You may pheel a little phoolish, but just go out and have some phoon!
There are a few phoon caches worldwide, thanks to ElectroQTed in Ontario (Barrels of Phoon!), and Lander and Lancelot in Green Bay (Having Phoon in Camelot) for borrowed content from their pages, and thanks for permission for graphics and links from phoons.com directly. Check the site out, it's HILARIOUS!
