This event is a simple meet and greet... a chance to grill and
chill. We will have charcoal for the grills and will fire them up
at noon, so bring your own meat to grill. Also please bring a food
item to pass (share with the group) and your own beverages. The
"chill" part of the grill and chill is your chance to chill with
other geocachers and share tales of the trail.
Come join us for a fun day of caching and camaraderie at
scenic Round Lake County Park, near New Auburn, in Chippewa
County.

Geocaching Activities
Temporary Geocaches: None.
Permanent Geocaches: There is already an excellent
permanent cache at Round Lake County Park, and several nearby along
Ice Age Trail. There are plans to plant a number of new permanent
caches in the area prior to event, so there will be plenty of
caches to find. Additional information about the number of
permanent caches will be posted when available.
Other Organized Activities
Geocacher Social Bingo: We will be playing a variant of
the Geocacher "Social" Bingo that has been popular at past WGA
events. If you have not played before, here's the scoop. Printed in
the squares of each geocacher bingo card are various attributes
that might apply to a particular geocacher or geocaching team, such
as "Owns A Garmin" or "Caches With A Dog". Your goal is to find
people at the event who have these attributes and can sign the
squares on your card.
Pin The Flag On The Waypoint Game: We will give everyone
a waypoint (set of coordinates) and a survey flag and ask them to
go where their GPS tells them that the waypoint is located and
plant the flag in the ground. You will be surprised at how variable
GPS readings can be even out in the open!
Group Photo: We will take a group photo promptly at 1 PM
near the shelter. All are encouraged to stay for the photo so that
we can show what an awesome group of people we had attend our
event!
What To Bring To The Picnic
- Your own meat to grill
- Table setting for you and your family (or guests)
- Lawn chairs, if you would like
- Beverages for your group
- A food item to pass. Because everyone will be bringing food,
please don't bring a large amount (enough to serve your group is
sufficient) as we want to minimize leftovers. To ensure variety, please bring an item based on
your last name, as shown below:
-
- Last name A-H: chips,
pretzels, and/or snacks
- Last name I-P: dessert or
cookies
- Last name Q-Z: salad,
fruit, and/or vegetables
