Stunning view of Pender Harbour, Texada Island, and area
This one is a bit of a climb to the peak of a Pender Hill, which gives spectacular views West to Texada Island and South over Pender Harbour. The cache is near a lookout over Hotel Lake. The total ascent is about 150 metres from the parking area and takes about 1/2 hour with regular breathers.
Coming down is a bit shorter but make sure you have lots of daylight left. You'll want to give yourself some time at the peak to enjoy the views in all directions.
There is still some obvious fire damage caused by kids playing with firecrackers in July 2008, shortly after the cache was placed. The cache emerged unscathed, miraculously.
The drive from the highway takes about 15 minutes. Bring your bathing suit to swim in one of the several beautiful clean lakes off the highway.
