located on the banks of the Wild Horse River
One of our families favorite pastimes in the summer is to get together with some friends on a hot day and play in the braided channels of the Wild Horse River. You may encounter muggles tubing and splashing about.
The River is famous as part of the gold rush that occurred in the late 1800's. There are a number of good caches in the area.
Turn down the Ft Steele/Wardner Road. Pull off the highway just east of the bridge. The cache is on the south side of the River so you do have to wade across the river. It is relatively easy in the summer and very refreshing in on a hot day.
We do not recommend it in periods of high water like duirng the late spring snow melt. At that time of year you would be best to park on the west side of the bridge and stroll down the south side of the river.
The cache started out filled with frogs, a logbook and pencil.
