Shipwrecks: Gills Rock Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

DoorDoug: As this cache has been around for over eight years and it has never been designated a favorite by anybody and it is so close to another cache already and as I am the new CO, it is my best judgment to archive it.

Geocache Description:

Another in my maritime/nautical/scuba themed caches around Door County.

me on a russian destroyer

At the very tip of the Door County peninsula lies Gills Rock, where a strong tradition of commercial fishing continues today. Gills Rock offers divers the opportunity to explore the many shipwrecks in and around Death's Door. The local maritime museum houses many artifacts from these wrecks and chronicles the fishing industry.

This cache will bring you near a smaller edition of the Door County Maritime Museum.

Approximately 1000 feet west you will come to the edge of a pier. 30 feet farther out, in about 20 feet of water, lays a 1964 Rambler Station Wagon. A very nice dive site. or would that be a dive and drive site?
