Located Just Below the summit of Turtle Mountian near Grand Bay Westfield
This will be a hard cache to get, requires 17kms round trip to get. I suggest spending a night on the mountain in the established camping area just below the summit, from the top you can see 5 major lakes and can see the Irving refinery in St. John on a very clear bay you can see the bay of Fundy.
The best way to learn how to get there (which is how I got there) is to pick up a copy of A Hiking Guide to New Brunswick by Marianne Eiselt & H.A. Eiselt third edition. The Cache it self will be easy to get once your there! we took 4 hours in and 3 hours to get out, carrying all our gear for a night on the mountain.
For those not interested in getting the book:
Gate is : 45 21.900 066 16.867
Parking is:45 21.018 066 18.463
From Freddy: Take Highway 7 to welsford 6.9kms past the Irving is exit 71, turn left onto highway 177 towards westfield travel for 4.2kms, Turn at House 513 on the old highway to start up the dirt road and under Highway 7, after tunnel turn left and drive out by all the camps.
You can drive with a car to the parking.
Go on the main trail all the way to the top.
Should the gate be closed and locked this will add 3.2kms EACH WAY. according to the book gate is always open... but this is unverifed.
Also the trail has alot of spurs, always stick to the more traveled beaten path and to the right at the spur at the top of the first mountain/hill!
Well worth a visit! email if you want any info happy to help
Congrats to TheRetiredHiker&SpruceGum and Due East for FTF!!
