This event is part II of our Trail Work Day Event at the
Alexander-Harkins Preserve. This land is owned by the Androscoggin
Land Trust (ALT). We have been allowed to use this land for
geocaching and recently learned there is other land available for
geocachers to use. Our goal for this event is to complete the trail
at Alexander-Harkins Preserve. There is much to do and jobs for
everyone, ranging from spreading mulch, trimming trails, marking
trails, helping at the kids geo-craft table, and cooking the BBQ
lunch. To see the progress we made at the first event, visit the
photos from that event; GC1CZG8. You'll be surprised at what a
limited number of geocachers were able to accomplish. Just imagine
what we can get done this time! The event will start at 9am with a
briefing by Mike Auger, the ALT Director of Land Protection and
Stewardship. Mike is new to geocaching. Mike will briefly explain
what needs to be done and everyone will be assigned a task.
Children are most definitely welcomed at this event. We will be
organizing a table for the kids to use natures bounty to design
their own natural caches to be released at this event. The kids
will get the owner credits for these caches. Bring your latest
coins, cache and stash to share and discover. Come meet and greet
your local and far away fellow geocachers. There will be a few door
prizes and a few drawings. All geocache related. We will be having
a BBQ at 12:30pm: Burgers and Dogs on the grill, with cooking
compliments of The Hookers. So bring a bag of buns, dogs, chips and
soda and come on down! We are in need of a few good strong men with
wheel barrels. There is mulch to be pushed down that trail. We only
had two men who could do this at the last event and with as far as
we progressed down that trail, those two are going to need
re-inforcements. So, grab your gloves, pick up your rake, sharpen
your best pruning shears and come help the ALT and geocachers
solidify our future partnership in promoting responsible enjoyment
of natures trails. Bring plenty of water to keep you hydrated. This
is physical labor and you will sweat!!
