A micro located in a quiet park on the outskirts Rhinelander. The park has a swing set and a beautiful view of the Pelican River.
This cache is a seed from Refelo's 7th Grade Youth Group cache.
The history of Shepard Park goes all the way back to 1893 when Gene Shepard, a Rhinelander man, created a now infamous hoax. By using ox hides, bull horns, and steel rods, he made a vicious monster. The hodag was claimed to have been captured alive in 1896 and displayed at the Oneida County Fair. The hodag remains a huge attraction even after it's true identity was reveled.
As the logging industry declined the hodag kept people coming to the city. Because of this, an area of land behind one of Shepard's houses was designated a park. His house still stands on W Prospect Ave.

The cache is a camo-taped pill container and is log only.
In memory of Mr. Shepard a hodag trinket was placed in this micro and a gold coin is included for the first to find.
