Geocache Description:

This cache is dedicated to our son, LTC Todd Taves of the Wisconsin National Guard who recently retired after 23 years of service to Wisconsin and Our Nation. The cache is located at the Memorial Riverwalk in Delafield. Todd was a speaker at the dedication of this Memorial shortly after his return from Iraq in 2006 where he served as a Battalion Commander for 600 Wisconsin National Guardsmen. Todd quoted President Calvin Coolidge in his speech and ended with a quote of his own "Let us pledge to never forget".

The River walk is located in Fish Hatchery Park in Delafield and the entire walk is wheel chair accessible except for the last few feet to the cache. The total distance you will walk from start to finish is slightly over a mile. You will be observing monuments to the wars that our country has been involved in and gathering information from them to determine the final coordinates.

Marker #1 American Revolutionary War.
The last digit in the year the war started = "E".

Marker #2 Early American Wars.
The last digit of the year the Mexican War started = "A".

Marker #3 American Indian and Spanish American Wars.
Follow the trail to the right before crossing back over the bridge. No information here, just the monument to observe.

Marker #4 Civil War.
Add each of the individual digits in both years on the marker. The last digit in your answer = "B".

Marker #5 World War I.
No information here, just the monument to observe.

Marker #6 World War II.
No information here, just the monument to observe.

Marker #7 Korean War.
The last digit in the year the war started = "C".

Marker #8 Vietnam War.
The last digit in the year the war started = "D".

You will now be entering a boardwalk. Follow it until it ends and go to your right and cross over the river. The last monument is near the flagpole.

Marker #9 Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The first number of the year on the monument under Operation Iraqi Freedom times the last number of that year = "F".
**BONUS CACHE** Find the brick with our son's name on it at this Memorial Marker and E-mail us all of the information on the brick. You may log this bonus find when you log the main cache and then send your E-mail.

If you have any children with you this would be a good time to let them burn off some energy at one of the Lake Country's finest playgrounds. To your west you will see the large wooden fort playground.

***** The cache is hidden at N43 03.ABC W088 24.DEF *****

Follow the boardwalk back to the cache location. The cache is a large camo jar. Please return it to the exact same spot as found.

If you are a geocacher and also a veteran we would like to acknowledge you on the cache page. Send us information on the unit you served in and the dates of service and we will add it to the cache page. Include your actual name also if you want it listed.

We hope that you enjoyed the history and the walk at this Memorial Riverwalk.
