How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Pavor Nocturnus means "Night Terror" in latin. Bring a flashlight and don't be afraid of the dark. This cache is 100% legal to hunt at any time of night, but don't try it in the daytime, you'll never find it.

Park at the parking coordinates.

Go to the start coordinates, whip out your flashlight and look for the little yellow or brown reflective triangles. Follow those until you see the double - triangle, two brown triangles stacked vertically within a few inches of each other. There you will find the cache. It's a nice long night walk, but nothing to be afraid of here. You could bike if you like, or take your stroller, it's stroller friendly up until the last 30-40 feet or so when you'll have to strike out on foot to locate the container.

The best kind of flashlights for this pursuit are those white LED headband lights. Second best is a bright white LED flashlight held near eye level. The reflectors work best when the light source is nearest your head, and for some reason the white LED light has a better color for highlighting the reflector and not lighting up the vegetation so much.

After you've found it, use your GPS to track your way back.

Good luck and enjoy this night cache.

Cache hider is the author of the Geocaching Murder Mystery Novel "First to Find."

Geocachers discover and log the obscure clues left by a nationwide spree murderer. A couple of cachers in Austin Texas stumble onto the trail of the killer and a horrific picture emerges. Will they identify and apprehend him before he strikes again?

Not before the killer joins their game...
