Geocache Description:


-HIKING PALISADES-KEPLER STATE PARK-

Come out to Palisades-Kepler State Park and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the trails. Palisades-Kepler State Park has six miles of trails to explore, but you will be traveling slightly less than half of that (2.50) in this geo-quest. This 840-acre park has dramatic river bluffs, deep ravines, majestic hardwood trees, a large variety of wildflowers and an abundance of wildlife.

Looking west from the parking coordinates (found at top of page), you will find the start of the main trail; start here to begin your journey.
At stage 1, you will find a very large compass. Follow its guidance eastward and walk 50 feet to locate the coordinates for stage 2. Stage 2 contains the coordinates to stage 3, and stage 3 contains the coordinates to the final.

STAGE 1 = N41° 54.584 W091° 30.742

Along this quest you'll cross bridges, find hidden trails, see a stone gazebo, witness different wildlife, different wild flowers, and much more. Take notice of the stone bridge at the 'Y' intersection during your hike, as one way goes astray and the other leads the way. There is also a neat long wooden bridge during your overall adventure.

The trail to the final is hidden! :) You'll find this hidden trail in the corner behind the main lodge. Follow the trail from stage 3 to the lodge and you'll find your way...

Hike the trails to each stage and please only leave the trails when you get close to each waypoint. No major bushwhacking is required. The first three stages are small rubbermaid containers and the final is an ammobox.
