This is one of a series of caches paying tribute to Alfred Hitchcock for his classic thriller movies. The goal in creating this Hitchcock series was to find a location relevant to each movie.
Rear Window (1954) is a spine tingling mystery about a photographer, confined to a wheelchair because of an accident, who spends his idle time peering out his apartment window watching his neighbors live their lives. Believing he's seen a neighbor kill his wife, he enlists the help of his fiancée and his nurse to find out the truth. Hitchcock cleverly handles the confining spaces and delivers a claustrophobic mystery. A true classic!
Trivia - As a child Hitchcock was sent to the local police station with a letter from his father. The desk sergeant read the letter and immediately locked the boy up for ten minutes. After that, the sergeant let young Alfred go, explaining, "This is what happens to people who do bad things." Hitchcock had a morbid fear of police from that day on.
You may already know that Hitchcock appeared briefly and discreetly (stealth) in each of his films. In Rear Window he appears twenty five minutes into the movie … winding the clock in the songwriter’s apartment.
Beware of muggles who … just like in ‘Rear Window’… may be watching from their apartment windows.
