A micro sized cache that's grown attached...
When I was but a lad, my grandpa would take my brother and I out in the woods near here. While we were out, he would show us the many wonders of our local wildlife and how we could learn from their unique characteristics.
One afternoon we laid along a small knoll that overlooked a small meadow listening to the many varieties of wonderful birds that were happening by.
All seemed to be caught up in their own little world - all except one - two small chickadees that were constantly fluttering about above us.
Soon, one settled down close enough for us to really get good look at, and then it was off again.
As it goes, Grandpa always said we could learn from everything around us, so I asked him what good could we learn from that little bird… He sat up and took a small stick and pointed to where the bird had last sat, “That little bird was a chickadee and it doesn’t cause much concern to anyone in nature really. It doesn’t rely on anyone to feed him or keep him warm in the winter. He’ll come by this place pretty much the same time every day singing that same little song - chick a dee dee dee, chick a dee dee dee, Chick a dee dee dee, to anyone that wants to listen. On warm days like today or in the middle of the winter, he never seems to mind. We can learn from that little bird there - if you have any worries, just come back here some time and sit here and he’ll be by sure enough singing that same small tune to brighten your day”.
For those small feathered friends, I dedicate this cache…
