Geocache Description:


Just for those days when you don't want to get muddy but still want to go caching....This cache is part of the Downtown / Main Street USA series! I had hoped to be the first to bring this to Indiana as I had tried the Downtown Metuchen, NJ one almost a year ago. However, notice I said tried . I was going to wait to start the series here until I found it and Clara Barton the very first of the series. Since that time it has been started in this state, so I decided to give it a shot anyway. TwoCat has some great hides if you ever make it his way.

This cache is located on the main drag in Battle Ground. A little history on Battle Ground, IN. The Town of Battle Ground was named for the Battle of Tippecanoe. It combined with the Town of Harrisonville in 1867 to form one town. Harrisonville was named after Wm. Henry Harrison, who was the commander of the American troops in the Battle of Tippecanoe. There in a monument which is a National Landmark around the corner from the cache site for the Battle of Tippecanoe. While you are in the area you may also want to check out the museum there, walk on the Wabash Heritage Trail, Prophets Rock, Prophetstown State Park, Wolf Park, among others. For such a little downtown area you'd be surprised what this town has to offer. Also right downtown is a motorcycle shop, TC's and Pizza King if you need a bite to eat. Don't miss out on the world famous Fiddlers Gathering every summer as well.
