There is nothing particularly special about the location of this cache except that it provides an excuse to take a beautiful scenic drive, bike ride, and perhaps a hike along the Holly Ridge between Mt. Holly Springs and Cold Springs. The road is mostly dirt and 4x4 is probably recommended in the winter time, however, some other types of vehicles with all wheel drive would probably make it most seasons
To gain access onto Ridge Road go south through the Marsh Preserve south of the old Deer Lodge until you meet Ridge Road (40 06.321', 77 10.771'). Once you are on top of the mtn. make sure you keep an eye out for several scenic overlooks located at (40 06.258', 77 12.142') and (40 05.921', 77 12.478'). The cache is located on a 600 acre County owned property but there are some private driveways and posted areas on the left side of the road so please be respectful. Parking is available for one or two vehicles at (40 05.742', 77 12.655'). Cache container is a standard ammo can filled with all kinds of things a hiker / camper would need. There is even a travel bug for a FTF prize. After you visit the cache continue west on Ridge Road. You will enter Michaux State Forest for a while where you can walk the dogs or take a hike along the many fire roads. Another overlook is located at (40 04.116', 77 14.943') where you can park the car and appreciate the vista. Hammonds Rock formation is located later on to your left. This area is not recommended for the little ones due to offensive graffiti and broken glass everywhere. For adults, the view from the top of the rock by the ladder is spectacular. Make a right onto Cold Springs Road at (40 04.166', 77 15.715') and continute to Pine Road. Kings Gap Environmental Center is about a 1/2 west on Pine Road and be sure to visit the Kings Gap General Store for some fantastic deli sandwiches and local sharp cheddar cheese.
