This cache has been archived.

-cheeto-: Confirmed attendance for the event was 42!!!

Last year we had 29 so thanks to everyone for making it a bigger and better event this year than last.

Also, a special thanks to those of you who donated door prizes.

And last but not least, thanks to everyone for bringing all the wonderful food. I heard several compliments and nice things said about the food during and after the event. It's good to re-fuel after hard work.

See you all next year!

Geocache Description:

Saturday April 18th, 2009

Please come out and help us keep the Appleton parks and trails clean. With 2009 being the 3rd consecutive year of having a spring CITO geocaching event in Appleton we will be cleaning 3 city parks: Alicia, Lutz, & Pierce (3 for 3) and we need your help! Let's give back something to Appleton for allowing geocachers to hide & seek geocaches in our city parks and along the trails.

This is an excellent opportunity to clean up the city's most recognized parks:
Pierce Park (Map) Is one of Appleton's larger parks at just over 36 acres. Pierce park hosts the City Band in the summer and a number of well attended events like the Annual Car Show and Numerous Ethnic Festivals.
Lutz Park (Map) is one of Appleton's smallest parks at 2.7 acres but this green space offers a great view of the Fox River. Lutz park is a location with a great deal of Historical significance and also host to the Yatch Club
Alicia Park (Map) is a 12 acre riverside park which is named after the wife of Alexander Reid, an early editor of the Appleton Daily Post.

On April 18th we will meet at the posted coordinates (the large pavilion at Pierce Park) at 9am to begin the cleanup portion of the event.

Event Schedule:
9:00am - 9:15am Registration & Coffee fill-up
9:15am Cleanup Begins
12:00pm Group Picture, Prizes, Potluck Lunch & Socializing in the Pierce Park Pavillion

Please come dressed to cleanup trash. Also, please bring your own gloves and be ready to work.

Registration Forms:
The Appleton Parks and Recreation Department requires that everyone fill out a release form prior to working. Adults and Minors. Forms will be available at registration. To speed up registration, please print out a form and complete it prior to the event. There are 2 separate forms. One is for Minors under age 18 and the other is for Adults. A form must be completed for each participant in your team.

Forms:
Note: These forms require Adobe Acrobat Reader
Under 18 / Minor Form

Adult Form

The restrooms at Pierce park will be open for use from 9am - 1pm. Coffee & bottled water will be provided for all cleanup volunteers.

Lunch: This year we will be having a Pot Luck lunch. Seldom Seen and I will bring Brats, Buns & condiments. Please bring a dish to pass. If you don't bring a dish, no Brats for you! A last name potluck strategy will be used:

LAST NAME A-H: desserts or sweets
LAST NAME I-P: salad, fruit, and/or vegetables
LAST NAME Q-Z: chips, crackers or other crunchies! (cheeto's?)

Prizes!!!!
Participating cleanup volunteers will have a chance to win some great prizes including: 2 unactivated travel bug tags, 2 unactivated copper cache movers geocoins, an unactivated black nickel DNF geocoin, and an unactivated satin gold chinese fan geocoin. JimAndLinda have graciously offered another Geocoin prize as well. If you have some items to donate for prizes, feel free to bring them along.

Further details to follow so please place this cache page on your watch list. I will post a note each time the page is updated so you are alerted to more details as they are planned. Please post a "Will Attend" if you can make it to the event and help out and how many in your "team" will be helping.

Mark your calendars!

A special thanks goes out to Tim McGuire and the Appleton Parks and Recreation Department for allowing us to return for a 3rd year and use of the Park's pavillion.

Congratulations Little Curly Girl Anna on the FTF!!
