Central Jersey Geocachers: The Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge was started as a community project in 2009. As a group we secured every "GC1NJ*" cache page we could and got to work placing caches in out of the way gems all over central New Jersey. The idea was picked up by the North and South Jersey groups as well and the communities continued to grow as a result. Alas, the interest in this kind of challenge seems to waning. With that in mind it is time to archive the final to make room for the official geotrail that will soon be bringing new cachers here. Thanks to the township for hosting the cache the past few years, to TwoCat who had the initial idea for the tour, mblatch for coordinating the waypoints/cache pages (and for the devil of a challenge), to the many cachers who placed and helped maintain the Checkpoint Caches and to all of the cachers who endeavored to find the them over the years!

The cache is being officially archived, but at this time has not been picked up so it is still available to find and log. Keep an eye on the notes for this page to see if that has changed before coming out to the final. Maybe one day the Checkpoint II will be published. Until then keep on exploring and remember:

Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge

This is the final cache in the Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge!!!

This challenge series is intended to take geocachers on a tour of Central New Jersey (loosely defined as north of 195 and south of 78) while finding caches placed by Central Jersey geocachers. On the tour we hope you will find Central Jersey an interesting and beautiful part of our great state…read on for the details.

Hidden around Central Jersey are 26 checkpoint caches (naming based on the NATO phonetic alphabet). To complete the challenge you must visit and log each of the 26 checkpoint caches. The 26 checkpoints do not have to be completed in any particular order and have no special logging requirements, you must however adhere to posted park hours - after hours caching is not allowed.

Hidden within the 26 checkpoint caches are the numbers to be used to calculate the coordinates to the Central Jersey Checkpoint Challenge cache and parking.

About this park: The park is open from dawn to dusk. Please do not cache at night. Logs indicating after hours caching will be deleted. Sorry - no pets are allowed. Hunting is allowed in season - but not on Sunday.

FTF gets a $20.00 Fuddruckers gift card(it is not in the cache - TwoCat has it). The first 50 cachers to complete the coin logging requirements will get a coveted CeNeJeGeCa geocoin in satin gold. The coin in this metal is only available to finders of this cache!

Requirements to log this cache:
1.) You must have visited all 26 checkpoint caches.
2.) You must include in the log for this cache the dates you found each of the checkpoint caches: e.g Alfa – 4/2/09, Bravo – 4/4/09, etc.

Requirements to claim a CeNeJeGeCa coin:
1.) In your log for this cache you must include a picture of your signature from EACH of the 26 checkpoint log books.
2.) You take a picture of yourself with the cache at the cache location. Post the picture in the log for this cache (no spoilers).
3.) Send an email to the cache owner requesting your prize.
