Come join us for the WGA's 8th annual Geo-Campout at High Cliff
State Park near Appleton. This will be our second trip to this
great park, and we think it will be the perfect location for what
should be our largest Geo-Campout to date. Register now to join in
the fun and camaraderie!
While daytrippers and Trudy campers are always welcome, to get
the full Geo-Campout experience you need to sleep outdoors in the
park. The WGA has reserved two group campsites for tent campers
that are available on a first-come, first-serve basis (100 campers
max). The WGA is charging $8 per group per night to recoup the
costs associated with reserving these sites. For those with wheeled
campers (pop-ups and travel trailers) or who don't want to stay in
the group sites, a limited number of sites are still available in
the park's family campground. Family campsites can be reserved
through the
Reserve America website.

Friday Night Activities
Group campers may sign-in and start setting up their tents at
3:00 PM.
Friday night the WGA will sponsor a night geocaching contest. We
are looking for individuals (maximum of 10) to hide night caches
for this contest. Prizes will be awarded based on a "survey" those
participating in the night caching will be asked to fill out.
(Prizes and prize criteria to be determined by the Campout
Committee.) Contact info wi-geocaching com if you are interested in
hiding a night cache.
Night caching will begin Friday at 8:00 PM (dusk) starting from
the Pavilion shelter (N44 09.899' W88 17.158'). Night caching must
be completed by 10:30 PM to ensure that everyone abides by the
park's established quiet time.
Saturday Day Activities
Saturday daytime activities will begin at 8:30 AM at the
Pavilion shelter (N44 09.899' W88 17.158'). Registration for
Saturday activities will be available from 8:30 AM until 1:00
PM.
Approximately 40 temporary caches are expected to be hidden in
the park along with the other permanent caches already placed. All
participants must register at the shelter before seeking these
caches. At that time you will receive your packet of information,
including the coordinates to the temporary caches. We will have
cables and laptops for downloading temporary and permanent cache
waypoints to your GPSr.
We will also start passing out the geocacher "social" bingo
cards on Saturday morning. If you did not play this game at past
WGA events, here's the scoop. Printed in the squares of each
geocacher bingo card are various attributes that might apply to a
particular geocacher or geocaching team, such as "Owns A Garmin" or
"Caches With A Dog". Your goal is to find people at the event who
have these attributes and can sign the squares on your card.
Getting five signed squares in a row gives you a bingo. Bingos and
blackouts are good discounts at Sunday's pancake breakfast.
If you would like to grill your lunch or dinner on Saturday, we
will provide hot charcoal grills ready at noon and 5:30 PM.
Please make your way back to the Pavilion shelter no later than
5:00 PM Saturday. A group photo will be taken promptly at 5:00 PM,
immediately followed by some brief announcements.
Saturday Night Activities
At 7:00 PM, the WGA will conduct a general membership meeting.
Any WGA member is allowed to ask questions or bring up concerns
during this meeting, and the WGA Board members present will do
their best to answer or address them. This meeting will have a hard
stop time of 8:30pm (no official discussions or decisions will be
made, and no minutes will be taken after this time).
Immediately following the meeting, the WGA will have a bonfire
going in the quarry area until the park's quiet time.
Quiet time is 11:00 PM. The DNR requires campers to be on their
sites by this time, and that campers are quiet. Non-campers must be
out of the park by 11:00 PM.
Sunday Pancake Breakfast
The WGA is sponsoring a pancake breakfast at the Pavilion
shelter (N44 09.899' W88 17.158') Sunday morning from 8:00 AM to
11:00 AM. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, coffee, juice,
and milk. Cost is $4 for adults (13 years and older), $2 for
children 6-12, and free for children under 6. Social bingo cards
with a bingo will good for $1 off the cost of breakfast, cards will
a blackout will get a $2 discount. Breakfast fees will be collected
on Sunday morning (no advance payment required).
Sunday we will ask for volunteers to help pick up the temporary
caches. Cache retrieval will be organized during breakfast.

Do NOT post a "Will Attend" log here
(The WGA requests that you use the special registration form so we
can get an accurate count of expected attendees for each activity.
Thanks!)
The WGA asks that this event be logged only once. The practice
of multiple logging of temp caches is no longer condoned by the WGA
or considered to be a good practice by much of the geocaching
community.
