Geocache Description:

It's a phone box, and it's in Latimer.

The cache contains a log book. Bring your own pencil. Make sure it's very sharp. It's a very small cache. It's not a micro; it isn't even a nano. You might call it a pico, maybe. You can initial the log; use no more than two letters. You might need tweezers; very fine-nosed tweezers.

Latimer is quite small, and fairly obscure. It's so small, BT has threatened to removed the phone box in a few weeks, but that was a year ago, and they haven't killed it yet. I'm placing this cache so that people can enjoy the phone box while it's still there.

There's only one phone box in Latimer (there could be none soon), so you can't really go wrong.

Latimer was the location used in the Department S episode, "The Pied Piper of Hambledown." The episode first aired: Sept/30/1969. I got that Fascinating Fact from Wikipedia; I haven't a clue what it means.

There's an underground station called Chalfont and Latimer but don't be fooled into thinking that it's anywhere near Latimer. It's in Little Chalfont, miles and miles from Latimer. I suppose they called it Chalfont and Latimer to appease the angry Latimites, who would otherwise have rioted for their own branch line.

There's a nice little triangular village green with a pump on it, and a sort of roof on the pump. Very charming. Don't drink the water. More importantly, you can probably park there; I have, there's usually some room.

If you stand outside the phone box, you might be able to hear the nearby wind chimes tinkling. Depending on the wind. That's as close as you'll get in Latimer to "exciting". If it's raining, get into the phone box, then you won't get wet.

The phone box is marked on the OS map, so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding it. Finding the cache might be a bit harder, though. It's very small.

If you've become interested in Latimer, you can read about it here. But there isn't much to read. Latimer is pretty small. Not even big enough for a phone box, according to BT.

Congratulations to two newbie cachers Appaloosadude and titchypup for beating the FTF-specialists and getting FTF.
